Hi all... I searched for this and found the M2 body parts are interchangeable from 99-02. Does anyone know why the 97 m2 pieces wouldn't fit the 99? found a decent set of m2 body parts for my sons 99 for his bday, but they came off a 97. Thank you |

in '99 they went to a larger tank, tail, seat combo. frame was designed to fit these pieces, vs. the slimmer and narrower tank, seat of the 98 and earlier. plus the frame added additional spar above the oil filter. the forks went up in diameter and new routing for the exhaust headers changed a bit of the right side of the frame. |

in '99 they went to a larger tank, tail, seat combo. Correct! frame was designed to fit these pieces, vs. the slimmer and narrower tank, seat of the 98 and earlier Incorrect! The M2 frame from '97-'98 and '99-'02 are the same for the tank and tail interfaces. For reference, check out pdf pages 62-63 If you mix/match tanks and tails, some 'unsightly' gaps may exist at the seat to tank interface. But 1997-1998 M2 bodywork will fit perfectly on a 1999-2002 M2, just as well as 1999-2002 M2 bodywork will fit perfectly on a 1997-1998 M2. |

But don't try and swap headers. The frame IS different...just maybe not where the bodywork attaches. |
