Is there anything special about the hose from reservoir to rear master cylinder? It looks like regular vacuum hose, is it? Thanks |

Ya I thought it was special, but, it sure doesn't look it. I'll have to check ebay. |

Just thinking out loud... S2's (and other 'early' tubers) had DOT 5 brake fluid. Later (2000 MY was the changeover?) had DOT 4. FWIW... |

Not sure about 1999-back but my 2000 X1 has DOT4. |

I don't think 4/5/3 will affect the hoses, as long as they're rated for "oil exposure". The o-rings and seals inside the master cylinders and calipers, however, should be specified based on what DOT grade the fluid is. |

Tygon brand is purported best, at least by the people who sell it... that's what's on my M2. My problem was what size to use. I put on the little tiny early Buell reservoir, and the outlet size is different from the master cylinder input. I was able to kluge it, but less than ideal. |

I think I've found a source for the black hose, which I prefer. If not then Tygon it is. |

Tygon Black can be had. Fetched a premium. Motion pro wants $20 for three feet. |
