because i have a bad 2nd gear dog i thought that i could buy a used sportster trans, rebuild it then swap it at into my 2000 buell cyclone but i have questions; what year sporters transmission will 'drop into' my Cyclone and are there any gear ratio differences? i read that the 883 sportsters were geared to rev higher because of the lower displacement engines. that's what i DON'T want. |

I believe 2000 has a unique ratio 2nd gear but that is not required on a replacement. Any 91-03 XL transmission will go in as an assembly, if that is your goal. They generally range 2-500 for a good used gearset. |

Key is what Phelan said - complete assembly - meaning you should also use the fifth gear as well. |
