The reserve is at least 5500...not sure why it doesn't show my bid amount. |

It only shows a high enough bid to beat out the "other guy". If the other bidder went $3990 and you went $5000, it'll only show $4000 because that's what it takes to beat out the other bidder. The system won't spend your bid money unless it has to, in order to beat someone out. You say you bid $5500 and it doesn't show; that says $5500 isn't enough to beat the reserve. |

Yeah...I know it's not enough . Doesn't explain why it isn't visible. I'd think that would be good information for other bidders. Go to or watch a Mecum auction. Though bidders don't know what the reserve is, they still know the current bid. At least it's unlikely to get chopped at that price. |

I would love to buy that! The question is do you ride it or display only... |

I'd planned to preserve it. The 96 Red Snap S1 was the bike that made me fall in love with Buells. I've wanted one for 21 years. Seemed a good opportunity to get an unadulterated example. |

When I bought my Firebolt, my bid did not show up at all until after the owner lowered the reserve and the highest bidder retracted his bid (I think it was a friend of his trying to get the price higher). Send a message to the seller and ask the reserve price. Sometimes they will tell you and sometimes they ignore you. |

Always hated eBay reserves, if you want $200 for something, start the auction at $200. |

It's a good buy at $7,000 and a significant motorcycle. There are "lower miles" units out there . . . largely due to the ransom Harley-Davidson extracted on dealers making them take those S1 Lightnings in order to get their full Harley-Davidson allotment . . during the day that Harley's were selling for the price of gold. An inordinate amount of them got ordered and hidden in back rooms . . . yep, many dealers wanted the Harley allocation but didn't want to risk alienating their loyal HD folks by displaying Buells. Some dealers actually bought other dealers Buell inventory . . there was a sort of secondary market that evolved. One of our very own Badwebbers has THE low mileage units butI suspect there are still some, like the instant case, hiding out there with 20 and 30 miles on the clock. It's a great bike and worth $7,000. |

Be forewarned that the RS is not stock, as he mentions. It has the later Buell Race header and universal Supertrapp slip-on (not the conical OEM Supertrapp used on the RS/RSS models), odd non-OEM air cleaner, and misplaced decals, which makes me suspect a repaint. The RS/RSS headers were a unique bend similar to an S2 but not quite the same, and will likely never be found as a replacement piece to try to make it stock again. |
