Try Lance, at St Paul HD? Timing cover, S1 Lightning - that's how it'll be cataloged. |

I lost the one out of my S1 a few weeks ago.....pissed me off. Got back from a shakedown run and noticed it must have worked the rivets loose and fallen out sometime during the ride. I've eyeballed Ebay a few times since then, but haven't found one yet. |

For a motorcycle built 20 years ago? um...probably. Just par for the course. |

I don't expect to walk into a Dodge dealer and walk out with a fender for my 16 year old truck...or my 26 year old Daytona. Mechanicals? Sure. Aftermarket gaskets, some OEM hard parts, aftermarket hard parts...I can keep 'em running, but for cosmetics or body, I expect to scrounge junkyards or wait for the aftermarket to kick in. Starting to see some good body and interior stuff for the truck through LMC Truck, but the Daytona - just like my Buells - has its own parts stockpile in the garage/warehouse. "Just in case". |

Do you want the same one? You can get custom ones Redstang / engineered velocity makes some. Also if you look there is a way to screw them on insted of rivets |

The PO powder coated this one all black. I got it stripped down and polished some. I don’t mind it but would like an oem. I was going to tap the backing plate and use screws with some med locktite just so I don’t lose it I don’t have the patience to paint this one to look oem so perhaps I’ll just clear it and be done. While still looking for another. I have seen the translucent ones on ebay and thought about it but...

What do they cost (sell for) and did they make one for the X1? |

If you are talking about what I posted I found a guy in Australia on ebay that makes them to your specs think it was 30 shipped |

Buellster shows 2 in stock. Shows the wrong picture but it’s probably correct. Have to order it and I see. I’ve sent emails to him in the past for clarification with no response. http://www.buellsterparts.com/product.sc?productId =2154 |

Ordered one from Buellster. Have that site bookmarked and have been there but guess it slipped by me. Good find William. Figure $20 (+7 to ship ) it fits in an envelope)). we’ll see when it gets here if my search has ended. |

"The PO powder coated this one all black. I got it stripped down and polished some. I don’t mind it but would like an oem." That's what they look like stripped?? I think that looks better than the original. I like it! } |

Maiden I think it will depend on year I know the early 96 S1 covers would be flat metal if stripped there is no raised portion. Actually never sean one with a raised area like that even the xb are just flat metal |

Both are stamped. The stripped one is more noticable because of the layer of black paint fills in the lower part of newer one. They are actually 2 piece. Top piece is stamped while the bottom is flat. You can see the seam around the edge. Stripped one is also from the 96. Maybe the newer one came from a 98 because it says 1203 instead of 1200. Its a mystery |

My 96 plate I sold and it was not stamped is what I am saying. I also have a firebolt and it is also not stamped. They are perfectly smooth and almost look silk screened. So the question is why two styles? |

As I was saying..... its a mystery I was thinkin perhaps in the beginning they stamped them but went a different route later on to save $$$. But I don’t think this is the case. Maybe they only put them on certain bikes because it adds like 10 more ft lbs of torque |

Ha Maybe the stamped one was too heavy it through the balance of the motir off and created more vibrations! Thats right more vibrations! |

I think you’re on to something there |
