My 2000 M2 loves it and I like it better than the CV carb. Some will argue that the CV is better but is more your preference. (Message edited by Buell_m2_s3 on November 11, 2017) |

woah up its NOt a preference thing as the 2 carbs are completely different design.I regularly change e models on evo shovel ironhead to CV and ownr think its a different bike. The SET UP is the key.you CAN't get an e model to run like a CV but you CAN get a CV to perform great as a race carb, stright line , like S&s sez " race proven" the only upgrade and a small one at that is the mikuni . stick to your CV and get a carb guy like me to do the mods/ full rebuild so literally out of the box you have set it and forget it peformance for way less money than a used e model.A decent price for a cv is still under 100. just do your research before you buy ,theres 3 models out there, you dont want to get it wrong. i am on xlforum.net |

well like hawgford , I think waist of $ changing from a cv40 to an s&s shorty e, if cv tune right and free breathing air cleaner. if you line up at the traffic lights stock m2 s&s e other m2 cv40 tuned right. the cv40 will smoke you you just can't match off the lights as its got constant velocity , the s&s e just excellerator pump and a butterfly you control. but on open road might be different depends how much air your motor can use. s&s manifold flows better than stock hd manifold I have a woods 43.5 rebel mounted to an s&s g manifold on my m2 international ( has Andrews n4 as stock or se same grind ) also have d&d system dyna adjustable module |

Hey Lakes - good to see you and hope all's well! Re your Dyna ignition - which model is it? All I find are nose cone models. I've done very minor mods to the M2 - I like it a lot as-is - but am thinking of an ignition upgrade in order to raise the RPM limit. Figure if I do anything else downstream I'll change ignition anyway. |

Has anyone run a OEM big bore CV? Or is that what a woods 43.5mm is? |

I have a CV 44 on my S2 (for about 11-12 years). Also ran one on one of our past Bonneville bikes, and I had one on an S1 my son had - which we kept when we sold it. On some back-to-back Dyno testing we did, the 44CV could make 3-5 rwhp over a heavily modified 40CV (depending on the motor mods). CV carbs are good all-around carbs and are fairly tolerant of altitude changes ( I'm prejudiced though, 'cause I've been tuning them for decades). |

I think the more pertinent question is...why? What is it you're trying to do or fix? Do you have a running issue? Are you looking for "more" performance? What sort - street riding? Racing? Drag strip? What's the end goal? Different tools do different jobs. |
