Will rear belt sprockets from a Sportster work with Buell wheels? |

No. The hole in the middle is a different size. I think the Sportster is smaller, so you could machine it out to fit a Buell. I can check tommorrow for sure. (Message edited by Sportyeric on October 30, 2004) |

Eric is correct,Buells use a larger hole in center of sprocket-had to machine a bigger hole in a nice billet sprocket I got before I knew that tidbit. |

Hey guys, Machining a new center hole won't be a big deal, my dad has a welding and machine shop so that's no big deal. Shouldn't take more than about 30 minutes. And Crossroads is about 20 minutes from my work so if nothing else I could take it over there. Jim, did you install said sprocket and how did it work out? |

Fellas : It's not a big deal to bore the I.D. of a sprocket , I do them occasionally. It helps to have a means to hold the sprockets , I made a small face plate drilled with the sprocket bolt pattern , a separate pilot is used to line up the sprocket to the face plate , the bolts get tightened with the pilot in place , the pilot is then removed , the sprocket , mounted on the face plate can now be held in a chuck , on the lathe . Some sprockets are a bitch to mount in a chuck , there's very little to grasp , thats why I made the hub / faceplate attachment for the lathe . I have done them on a mill before too with a boring head. |
