I tried searching a little, but really don't know what keywords to search with to pull up this specific of information. I picked up a set of newer handlebar controls for my 97 S1, the style that comes on the FI tubers, blast, XBs, and 1125 bikes. I know the throttle ends of the cable housings are shaped different between the new controls and the old ones, so I'll need to pick up new cables. Has anyone else does this swap and know which throttle cables are a proper fit for the new controls paired up with a CV carb? My initial thought was that the Blast cables should work because those bikes still had a carb. I wasn't sure how different the dimensions were between the carb and the EFI. The only issue, is through the best amount of measuring I could with the pictures on St. Paul's website, it *appears* that the EFI tuber & Blast cables look like they're about 5mm longer than the S1 cables(just the cables, not the housings), while the XB cables look like they're actually about the same length. Without actually have a few sets of cables to test fit, it's hard to tell. Anyone have any experience with this? I know I've messed around with making normal cables before. I think the biggest difference between the S1 and XB cables is the big plastic curved part that goes inside the controls. I see they have some bent tubes for different bikes, I'll have to scroll through later and see if they happen to have the XB piece. |
