Nice bike, irrespective of its stockiness... I'm opposite, to me stock is the a compromise between accountants and engineers. I'd like to get like the titanium frame of a Bott XR1, single-sided swingarm, carbon fiber wheels, ceramic brake disc, or how about a billet header  | ||

Well, as much as I know about bikes – I don’t know as much as Erik Buell – After all these years I’m realizing just how good the OEM equipment on these tubers actually is. I mean, he was putting these high quality parts (Nissin, Showa, Performance Machine etc.) on these production bikes, taking the Sportster lump to its very limits. The air box may not look like much – but it’s perfectly calibrated for the carb and muffler combo – you keep the breadbox and stock muffler you won’t have any problems with these bikes. I just want to ride, man. I intend to build an insane S1 one day, though… | ||

I agree bike manufactures know way more than I do, but I know realistically they also have a budget they need to stick to. I like a motor that hasn't really been tinkered with, aside from the obvious upgrades like the oil pump gear and the primary chain tensioner, but there's definitely some things that can be improved on... handlebars, footpegs, mirrors, brake levers, USD forks, aluminum swingarms on S1s, rear shock upgrades(!!), some random carbon fiber parts here and there like you've got... then there's things manufacturers have to do for legal reasons, like the bulky rear fenders, super wide turn signals, too many reflectors, overgearing a bike for emissions... I agree I can't produce a better bike from scratch, but I think there's always something to improve on that aren't 100% stock. Aside from that, my bike came with a V&N exhaust, I'd definitely like to replace it with a stock exhaust when I find one that isn't $200... I wouldn't mind a stock airbox either just to go with it. My bike also came with a corbin seat, which I was excited about at first, in all honesty and as much as people pick on them, the stock seat is much more comfortable.
