Im looking at buying a one owner with 24k miles. Accident free, all updates, recalls done to it. Comes with Race and stock ECU, (2) race mufflers, 1 supertrapp muffler, touring and stock windshield, brand new spare tank and tail, front/rear wheel stands, new tires, bags, liners and fairing bags for $3700. Only thing I dont like is the stock airbox. I'm concerned about parts and maintenance. I went over everything in Don Casto's S3 post and everything but the primary chain tensioner has been looked after. What do you think, go for it? (Message edited by wabusk on April 01, 2017) |

If the race mufflers are in good shape, you can resell them. They're worth a bit. |

I bought my 00 S3 bone stock, last fall for $2700 with 2,700 miles. No recalls but the SRP on the shock. The oil pump gear, XB breather upgrade, tensioner, and exhaust hanger set me back probably $500 all together. Then, I bought a set of T handlebars (I found the S3 riding position too sporty for a bike that size, IMO it should have only been offered as a sport tourer, the sport was covered by the x1) and just recently bags painted to match and brackets recently for $950 without liners. So I'm going to have about $4200 wrapped up in a low mileage S3 - T convert. I probably could have gotten a nice loaded Ulysses for that but I like the tubers and I could always liquidate the T parts to recoup some money if I ever sell it. Also, IMO stick with the stock airbox. It's kinda bulky but I've grown to like it. It was an engineering marvel for the power/flow/noise level and is set up for the DDFI. Most workshops won't work on Buells for good reason. |

That's really not bad. Spare mufflers are easily a couple hundred each. Stands might be $300 total(?). You hope you never need the spare body parts and could probably sell them. I've lost track of pricing, but there's an easy $200 there. New tires and bags are a chunk of change as well. For that year I don't think the chain tensioner would be an issue. I'm the opposite of WSB - The best thing I ever did was take off the T bar and put on the S3/M2 bar. It's a sportster motor. Parts will be readily available for a while. Most other items can be found as well. Grab it and love it! |

"Also, IMO stick with the stock airbox. It's kinda bulky but I've grown to like it" It's also a good place to put a sandwich and a beer when your taking a break on the side of the road. But seriously, where can you find that caliber of bike, with those spares and those farkles, for that kind of money? I'm with Butch, try to talk him down a wee bit. |

I have 4 Buells(technically): 97 S1 02 S3T 04 XB12R 15 1190SX Out of all of them, the S3T is my favorite bike. If I could only keep one, the S3T is the one I'd keep. Just my $0.02 |

It has the lower M2 bars on it which I like. He also has the owner's manual and the shop manual plus brand new front and rear brake pads.I will keep the stock airbox for now and see how it is. I'm going for for it!! |
