Somewhere on Badweb, there is a thread showing how to do it. Try searching the Knowledge board or Old School and I'll bet you'll find it. If you decide to hire it out, there are a couple shops that do the work. They will probably turn up in the same search. |

How much does it cost to get your shock rebuilt by Racetech? I thought I had heard it was about $200 to have it done. He spent more than that in parts alone. |

By the time you have the parts and get it charged you could have racetech build it. but you will be back in the same situation again. Buy a new shock from Twin Motorcycles or Penske |

I think Racetech cost me $400. It may have been in the three hundreds though. been a while. (Which is a good thing!!) |

We have a place locally now that is a Racetech shop. I talked to them at the MC show back in Jan. They rebuild Buell shocks. If memory serves it was about $175 for the rebuild. The seals they use now are better than the stockers so they should last a while. My S1 project (neighbors bike) needs a shock. It has the old style 16" that is leaking.. I have a bunch of new styles I can have rebuilt. It's not hard to do but it's not worth the hassle. Worth the $75 or so to have it done. I'll dig up the name of the place when I get a chance. Brad |

I agree, I feel like if your shock is leaking, this is the way to go.... http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp? guid=YXHFSC&aid=4323&cid=9865&s=&a=&aname=Buell_M2 X1S1S2S3_rear_shock_42cm=1654_inch I'm cheap when it comes to parts, and will typically buy used or fix anything I can, but I'd have a hard time paying $200, to fix a shock that's only worth $200, knowing it's probably going to start leaking again in the future. I'd just pay the $500 if you can, and know you're never going to have to worry about it again. Put your leaking shock on ebay and put the money towards a new one. Probably worth at least $150, and then you'll barely be paying more than the guy in the link who paid $360 to rebuild his stock part. |
