My gas cap was getting a little hard to take off, the plastic ears had swollen just enough to get it stuck. With a little prying force it finally popped out. I started to grind the ears down, but noticed that the pivot hole was getting wallowed out. Went to ebay and bought the last two gas cap fixes... thank you, works like a champ, just hope you make more. Thanks

I noticed there weren't any on ebay. I hope they make some more too, because I'll need to pick one up someday! After seeming them talked about on here, I worry every time I have to open my gas tank haha. Luckily no problems so far. |

The first thing guys notice is that it becomes increasingly hard to pull the cap out. The pressure on the ears of holding the cap on slowly spreads them - to the point that they are wider than the opening in the cap base. You can grind them down, but then they'll spread even faster because they're thinner now. This can be held off by adjusting the cap so it has a reasonable amount of pressure so the ears don't have so much pressure on them. The killer is the central "square-ish" hole in the plastic gets wallowed out. When that happens the plastic section no longer turns and you can't open your cas cap. You can farkle a repair, or maybe get a new plastic section, but nothing beats these aluminum parts. No spreading of the ears - no wallowed out hole. Do a search and you'll find a long history and the many methods of repair/replacement. |

I hadn't thought of that. I thought the problem came from the plastic swelling due to the ethanol in in the gas, similar to the regular tank problems(on the Buell and on my old Triumph). I never thought about it being from the pressure of it being pulled against the cap. I'll have to loosen mine up to make sure there's no extra pressure on it that there shouldn't be. |

Lakes - if you aren't worried about lock-ability, any Blast cap will fit any tuber tank, and doesn't have the key lock, just the twist-tab latch. |

Wow, that's strange - I just bought my second one from eBay (gmaan03) last week for my S2. I bought my first one for my S2T a few weeks before that and was so impressed had to get another even though my other Buell didn't need it yet. I have seen him run out, then more show up so hopefully he'll make more - recommended for any tuber, a permanent fix for a problem you will definitely encounter sooner or later. |

If you got stuck, there is APH engineering in the UK making a similar solution to the problem, don't think they are listed on the website, need to make contact. His exhausts are top quality too. http://www.aph-performance-engineering.com/ |

I had this issue and just sanded the diameter if the plastic piece down a little and it solved the problem. I did however purchase a diffrent fix from someone here just so I never had the issue again. It was a little center piece not the whole plastic replacement and it has worked well. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/716383.html?1373206627 (Message edited by S1owner on March 03, 2017) (Message edited by S1owner on March 03, 2017) |

They are back up and available on Ebay again. Went ahead and pulled the trigger. One more more "gotta do someday" scratched off the list |
