Does anyone have this: http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp? guid=YXHFSC&aid=4323&cid=9865&s=&a=&aname=Buell_M2 X1S1S2S3_rear_shock_42cm=1654_inch I see that it doesn't have compression adjustment but at $530 + shipping (if I am doing the conversion right). It would seem to be a bargain. If you do have this, do you miss the lack of compression adjustment? I am not spending more than 1k on a rear shock so the penske is out, basically I can choose from the works, twin and AST. |

I din't ride it,but all reviews about are very good. Twin Motorcycles is a very trustworthy company and they really love Buells. |

I agree, I've heard nothing but good things about it. |

If your reaching out into Europe for your shocks, you should include AST in your search. Owners seem to rate them, some have complained of being over damped, I believe thats a issue that has recently been dealt with. There are AST dealers in the US, but they do not advertise Motorcycle shocks. Worth a phone call. http://www.ast-suspension.com/shop/shockabsorbers/ bikes/buell-520-detail |

I've had a few shocks but the AST on my S2T is the best I have experienced. They'll do the spring in white too if you want to give a nod to the original WP shock. Picture in my profile. |

The Twin Cycles shock is a good all around shock. It does everything well, it's good looking and well built. I give it a solid B+ on my 98 S1W. With that said, if your a rider who can push a shock to the limits at the track then it's lack of complete adjust-ability will hobble you. For me it works very well (imho). When was the last time anyone saw a Buell bringing up the rear at the track anyway?

The exchange rate keeps dropping. I'm ordering one the day Brexit takes effect. |

When you do a lot of road miles, are the exposed spring shocks hard to keep clean? |

Thanks for the links and the excellent discussion. I don't race and wouldn't race a bike I ride on the street but do track days. I would prefer to have the compression adjustment its nice to be able to turn turn down the compression for the street. I will probably try and get an AST. |

Be aware that the AST service is not what it once was! At least that is how it goes for the UK. So inform first before ordering and paying |

I have an AST rear shock on my M2 , it's a good shock , better than the oem one it replaced. I asked AST UK for set up advice when I bought it several years ago as it's got high and low speed rebound adjustment as apposed to high and low speed compression adjustment like most other high end shocks but they didn't have a clue so have left it largely as it came . |

I have AST shocks on both of my S2's and really like them. So much better than the stock recall showa for damping and spring rate. |

It blows my mind that these are American motorcycles and all the damn good parts are overseas. Twin Cycles, JWBoon, AST... |

V74 'but they didn't have a clue so have left it largely as it came' - looking at the UK AST website , it looks very much like they have a car orientated perspective, hence lack of understanding, I guess. Williamscottrobertson - 'It blows my mind that these are American motorcycles and all the damn good parts are overseas - shocks, important for going round bends (have you seen UK- european roads?)/ tight/ twisty british tracks |

Also, motorbikes are seen as transportation in the UK. Over here in the states...they're toys. Big difference there. That said, I have a Works on my S2 and love it. Has been good all-around - solo/empty, solo/loaded, 2-up, even 2-up on Road America for the 25th Homecoming "parade lap" free for all! I've done a number of WVBR's on that shock as well - superslab to and from the event, fully loaded, as well as the banzai-pace "pleasure rides" through the hills of WV running solo. The ol' girl does just fine keeping up. Been very happy with the Works. |
