I am painting an HD 1203 motor black for my latest project. What rattle can brands of high heat black paint have y'all had the best luck with in terms of durability. I was thinking a flat, semi flat, or a crinkle coat. Thanks for your help! |

Rust O Leum barbecue flat black for the prime layer, it repels grease and sticks to anything. Crinkle coat will peel off of cast aluminum without a good base layer. |

I've used the VHT black wrinckle paint. 2 cans for the engine should do it. |

PJ1 ceramic engine case paint. The best stuff. Cheapest from partzilla. Available in Gloss, wrinkle and satin. They have a ceramic high temp exhaust paint only available in black. However, exhaust I usually go with jethot or leave raw with a few coats of mop'n'glo every now and then. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/aftermarket/ XP-4460131.html |

And in case you've never used it before, the VHT only likes to "crinkle" when it's hot. Either paint in full sunlight, or have a propane torch handy to heat it up (don't burn it...just get it warm enough to crinkle). |

And put the can in a bucket of warm water before you use it. Then it will spray even nicer out. |
