Basics, any info I should check out "how to's". Is the crank a easy swap or are special tools needed?

Rough road with my x1 and need to rebuild. Just want to see if this is going to be feasible for me. There will be no big mods just want it to run like a rebuilt motor should.

Yes, special tools are needed. First off, a press (I use a twenty ton), dial indicator, etc. I would not recommend it as a simple job. You really need to take a look at the manual before you make a commitment to doing the job.

You might consider doing the engine removal and stripping the top end off, trans and charging system, cams, etc and then take the bottom to a GOOD mechanic to do the actual crank swap.

Sound advice.

That is the route I was planning I have r&r cycles are in my back yard they actually just completed the top end rebuild for me.(they did the work for the shop that was supposed to be rebuilding the motor). The bike is 80% stripped. I could complete the rest and then have them finish the lower end rebuild.
