Has anyone ever seen JMC swingarms? Site say they are no longer carry, but JMC's website says the do custom orders. http://www.cas4.com/jmc/buell-swingarm-01.htm http://www.streetfightersbydesign.com/streetweb/sw ingarm_page/swingarm_pg.htm |

I just talk to the importer from the web site you posted. He claims that JMC is terrible to order from. He had seen some orders take over 9 month's to get. He also claims that he has heard of customers paying for an order and never receiving the part. If you can find one in someones hands that wants to sell it then go for it, I wouldn't order one. |

If you really wanted a custom swing arm I would say find a good fab shop near you bring your arm for them to use and have one made it will probably be similar in price and 100% custom. Cant find a fab shop goto some custom car shows they are getting their parts locally somewhere. |

Metmachex.net here in the UK still list a custom swingarm for the S1 it's not cheap though or the later X1 swingarm delugged and polished looks good. |

Man, that last one would look 1000x better with the rear peg mounts shaved off. I want to do it to my S1 so bad, but I hate to molest a perfectly good S1 frame |

Oop I had an idea but never did it on my S1 Cut the rear triangles off put a slieve inside so you can slide the triangles off and on with a quick pin |

That sounds like a good idea, because I'd love to pull mine of too, but the two pieces are at different angles so you can't just slide them on and off without them being parallel, if that makes sense. |

I did see that black and red bike on facebook, but I didn't even look at it well enough to catch the different swingarm. I agree about fitting someone on that back seat. Someday I wouldn't mind getting a twintail. My wife used to go for rides with my on the speed triple sometimes, so I felt bad trading it for a bike with one seat, but I wanted an S1. What other choice did I have?? |

If you do cut the passenger foot pegs off don't forget to brace the side stand support. They're a heavy bike and will bend the side stand pivot if left unbraced. I cut the rear pegs off my S1/WL triangulated back to the main frame. Turned a piece of round bar so it mimicked the oil stopper plug and slid it into the open end near the side stand pivot. Also cut the side stand stop bracket off and fitted it back on closer to the pivot.http://www.ukbeg.com/forum/download/file.php?id=86 38&mode=view |

You guys need to ride your Buell's!!! Stop just looking !! I would never say i ride a BMW , if the S1 seat too small say, thatz what the M2 is for!!! I would still push my M2 before riding a BMW!!!! A friend tried to get me to ride his. But what ever you like i'm open too but BMW in any form , not my style, Ducati maybe. |

I would say that could be accurate. I can't ride my Buell. Its always broke haha. It was a complete neglected mess when I got it, and I'm slowly working out the bugs. Awesome, fun bike, but at this point it isn't reliable for more than a quick 100 mile ride. I'm also not interested in taking a 3-week trip loaded with half a dozen 600-1000 miles days on a tuber. I know it could be done, but it doesn't interest me. I've put almost 200k miles on my 2 BMW's I've had over the past 10 years with very few hiccups. To me, they are irreplaceable for the places I've gone and things I've done. |

No interest in the normal bikes, but I think that new little bmw 300 looks like a fun ride. |

I think anyone who says they'd never ride a BMW, has obviously never ridden a modern K bike. |

I was loaned a couple of different BMW bikes during my different trips to Berlin, Germany over the years. The first was an R80GS (punched out to 1,000 cc's). Rode it on one of the Autobahns where - knobby tires and all - I had it topped out at 180 km/hr for over an hour (with the occasional high speed weave as a bonus). The 2nd was some R60 something or other. I had plans to meet up with some Buell owners in Potsdam, Germany - which the plans actually turned into meeting one Buell rider in Potsdam and riding to Oschersleben to meet the others as one of the guys was racing (assumed doing a track day) that day. That little R60 had absolutely no chance to keep up with the X1 who was going to guide us to Oschersleben. Thankfully for my later trips, I had accumulated some Buell friends so I could actually attend the BORG MSM's (Buell Owner and Repair Group Mid Summer Meetings)on the proper steed! 1313 |

Ooperzoo , yeh part of the fun of motor cycling, keeping a bike going Johnod , I have been offered rides on BMW's but was not interested, my friends ride them. A friend with a K model rides with me a lot or used to he just passed away few months back. He loved them but always complained about the weight . I was riding with another friend in twisty's & mountains here in Australia he was on a new R1200s but my M2 had no trouble passing him he was telling me how fast it is but stopped telling me after I over took him in twisty's & my M2 has 100,000 up all year riding here. But if you like BMW that's great! They improved after they took over Husky!! |

I pretty much like all motorcycles,I'm not brand loyal. I do have an S2 and like it a lot, and for a BMW I have a K1200RS, I like it too. I also have other makes. But IMO comparing the two is like comparing an old radial engine plane to a turbo engine plane. It's apples and oranges. Some days I want one , some days the other. It's all good. |

It's not really about the bikes performance or liking bmw's. I think some of them look nice, but they definitely have their own thing going and a lot of people just have no real interest. It's the same story with Buells. When I think of BMW, all I picture is people who can't be bothered to flip on a turn signal for the benefits of the rest of society. That being said, I still want one of those new 310's to play on. (Message edited by Upthemaiden on December 18, 2016) |

They do look like a hell of a lot of fun don't they? Just gotta wait for them to start showing up on Craigslist I never would have considered myself to be a BMW guy. I only rode crotch rockets for years. Then my old man planned a month long cross country trip and insisted that I come along. My current ride at the time was a GSXR1100. That obviously wasn't going to work. I sat on everything I could throw a leg over and the BMW was the only thing I could find that had the right ergos for me to be comfortable. I think I was 26 at the time. Not exactly the demographic for a R1100RT but thats what fit. I also didn't care how it rode at the time, I just knew I didn't want a Harley or a Goldwing. I needed to have my feet under me, not lounged out in front. I planned to ride it out to CA and back, then sell it to fund another sports bike. 7000 miles later, you couldn't have separated me with that bike for anything. I loved it. I could ride it almost as fast as my GSXR in the twisties, but I could do 600 mile days fully loaded with a passenger too. It wouldn't be my first choice for a quick joyride, but damn it was good at munching miles at an accelerated rate. I ended up putting about 20k miles a year on that bike every year until I hit about 140k miles on it and decided to part it out. It wasn't the fastest, or the sexiest, but as a complete package, it was hard to beat. Thats what I needed at the time and it fit the bill. I have since moved onto a R1200GS. A Ulysses was on the short shopping list, but I felt the GS was a better package and I was already comfortable with the platform. It didn't help when Buell went under about the same time I was shopping. With regards to the GS.....it ain't the fastest, and its ugly, but damn its a good motorcycle. Its also not the first choice for a quick joyride........but thats why it has a S1 parked next to it. |

I always thought the R1200GS was a really good looking bike. I have absolutely no use for an adventure bike in my life, so I've never given them much thought, but I do think they look pretty good for what they do. I rode a gs650(I think that's what it was called) for about a week as a service loaner for the old Triumph I had purchased from a bmw/triumph dealership. That bike was a turd. I couldn't find one good thing to say about it if I had to and couldn't have been happier to have my bike back. |

I shortened the rear peg mount. Like it to rest my heels against.
