An S1 tail can be made to fit if you don't mind cutting up your subframe a bit. Airtech sells S1 tails, there's also a reasonably prices black tail on ebay at the moment. http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/buell/S11996-9 8.htm I think the most common advice though, if you just want a less bulky tail and aren't a worried about the length, is track down a tail from an earlier year M2. Their tails were still the same length but were a lot skinner. They look more like the S1's twin tail. |

well its really come down to, its just overall too big. something shorter in my opinion is more ideal. are there any diy projects with steps? is all i need to do is cut the sub-frame? |

Thanks everyone for the idea's. This might be an unethical questions, but can you put on the S1 seat without tampering with the frame? I mean its understandable why you should, but I feel like I saw a thread where someone used wood blocks as support underneath. I'm just confused how one cuts the subframe and bends the supports up to be welded? doesn't that cause further damage to the sub frame? TD,DR Would the bike look weird if you never made any permanent mods to the subframe? |

You CAN fit an s1 tail and seat to an m2. I saw someone do it on here. The subframe stick out below the bottom of the bodywork so it didn't look perfect, but it was acceptable if you don't want to cut your subframe. No idea where to find the pictures but if you spend enough tone on Google, you come across it eventually. |

Definitely an option! I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple monster seats on S1s/M2s over the years. I'm sure you could pull that off without any subframe modifications, assuming the front of the seat is low enough to mate up with the gas tank properly. Just get ready for even more people at redlights to yell "Is that a Ducati??" out their car windows at you haha |

You could join a ducati forum or two and keep an eye on the classifieds. Typically I just save my searches in ebay and check them every day. Something will pop up eventually. |

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ducati-Monster-Seat-cowl-f airing-new-not-painted-/282222518107?hash=item41b5 c5df5b:g:kqYAAOxy9X5TXVjK&vxp=mtr This one says it doesn't come with any brackets... but any seat cowl I've ever had just slide over the back of the seat, so I'm not sure if any are needed. Not sure what years the seats and cowls have changed over time, make sure when you find out which year seat you're going to use, you can find a cowl that fits it properly. |

Since it didn't post the first time.... it looks pretty good so far. the fuses are underneath the seat in a compartment [not shown. I got the front to stay down with some ghetto modifications, but keeping the back bolted down is going to challenge. if you look at the last picture the seat came with this nub with no threads. I'm thinking about chopping it and tapping it with threads, it would probably be the easiest method. another problem i didn't think about till after i realized the tail light didn't fit in-between the sub.frame and the seat. so i found this... but I'm not sure how i would hook it up, but unless there is something better please keep me updated. I don't know if you have access to a welding machine!? But you could make a couple small brackets or pieces and weld them on the frame for mounting the seatpin and tail lights and plate etc. And maybe it is doable to do it so that it is not interfering with the stock tail and seat when mounting that back on. |

That metal pin on the seat is for the seat latch. If you wanted to keep things setup how the buell was, you could certainly cut/drill/tap/thread and just bolt the seat down, but it might be easier to try and find a matching seat latch and attach it to your subframe. That way the seat would be easily removable if you're putting things under it. |
