The stock advertised hp rating is 101 @ the crank. Does anyone have the numbers for one equipped with race ecm & exhaust? Is there any magazines that did a comparison?

TIA

The race kit didn't give more power, it just gave it to you sooner. Mine showed a peak of 78hp at the rear wheel with the kit installed.

Yup. Technically it gave you something like 3 hp up top, but it mostly took out the midrange hole. The stock X1 exhaust actually flowed very well...just not tuned for midrange.

I read there is a 10% power delivery increase with a chain conversion.

"I read there is a 10% power delivery increase with a chain conversion."

I have never seen anywhere near that much increase from doing a chain conversion. At best I have seen about 3 more hp by converting from belt to chain.

There would be a loss of rear wheel HP using a chain.
only thing with chain is it is stronger & you can easily change gear ratio's. but what is HP? what does it do?
i can never feel a HP increase myself BUT i sure feel a Torque increase!!

You will feel a HP increase if you ride where the increase is. Too many people still ride these bikes only under 4500 RPM. If you short shift, you are giving up power, period. Stick in the gear longer, up to 6500-7000, and you will feel a power difference, compared to under 4,000, than most any mod you make. You have literally almost double the power at 6500 than at 3500.

Thanks for the info guy's. But for now I gotta deal with 1 of the front lower push rod tubes leaking after just getting done with having the top end off for cleaning then I'll push the upper rpm's to see if I can notice a difference.

I have a 2000 X1 that has been on dyno 4 times since I bought it in 2006.
The 1st run was shortly after I bought it... stock intake / ecm with a WileyCo. exhaust can.
76.3 hp / 68.6 torque.
The 2nd run was after I changed to a K&N air filter, still in stock intake.
77.48 hp / 69.72 torque.
The 3rd run was after I changed to the Pro Series air intake, and added a race ecm
79.1 hp / 70.62 torque.
The 4th run was after I changed to a full race kit, which by know only required the header and can.
85.7 hp / 75.7 torque.

If it's just the lower seals leaking around your pushrod tubes, you don't have to disassemble the top of the motor. Just remove the bolt holding the lower pushrod clamp, lift it a half inch, and rotate the seal to add a thin layer of high-temp RTV. Bolt it back together, rub with a rag to remove excess sealant, and allow to dry.

Mine are leaking also. Started with the front now the rear one to. Same spot at the clamps though the oil is going up the pushrods cover. I might try the high temp rtv.

I watched a video about the differences between chain, belt, and drive shaft.

It said 5% loss with drive shaft, 10% loss with a belt, 10% more than a belt with a chain. Might be power delivery or transfer of power not actual hp. Could be totally wrong but sounded possible.

most modern chain drives now have a cush drive which can rob just as much if not more power then a belt IMO.

Here's an old Dyno run from a then pretty new 2001 X1, this is with the Race ECM, A White Brother's Pipe and a K&N Filter, right about where you'd expect.

Since then I've upgraded to a 1250 kit w/stage 2 heads, from Buellidan's place. haven't dyno-ed it, but the arse tells me it's got more especially up top
