Hi, I posed this question in the "parts wanted" section. however, I'm going to post it here hoping that someone who knows can answer the question. I'm looking for a rear fender or my 1998 S3. The swing arm changed in 1999 so I know that 1999+ rear fenders won't fit. I'm wondering if pre 1997 s2 fenders will fit the 98 swing arm of an S3. Given that I'm looking at a 97-98 production range, these fenders seem really hard to find. I know that I can buy a NOS fender right now, but the price is ridiculous. I'm willing to sacrifice originality for function. So, I'm hoping someone can tell me if the S2 fender will work on my bike. Anyone? Thanks, Dan |

Are you inquiring about the inner fender or the fender/rear fairing? *Nevermind. I see you mention the swingarm so I'll assume you mean the inner fender. (Message edited by jmanscotch on May 26, 2016) |

59734-96y That's part # for S2 if yours matches it's ago. Same swing-arm all bikes 95-98. (Message edited by ebutch on May 26, 2016) (Message edited by ebutch on May 26, 2016) |

I would think it a close match, but not exact. I put a 95 fender on a 96 and had to drill one hole. Have you checked with djayden on ebay? |

I have a recall S1 swing arm that I fitted to my S2. I bought it thinking that it was identical to the S2 one but not so. Once I got the arms off the only real difference was that the l/h rear lug that the fender bolts to is a couple of inches further forward on the S2. I had to extend the S2 fender rearwards to meet the lug. If you were doing it the other way round you'd probably get away with drilling an extra hole. There were two swing arm kits, one for the S2/S2T. the other for the S1/S1W/M2/S3/S3T. PS.......anyone got a nice S2T rear fender they don't want......? |

Thanks guys. I'm just trying to increase my options. The 97-98 inner fenders seem to go for around $250 and up(new or used), if you can find one. The 99 and up fenders show up all the time for around $50. |

I did consider the swingarm swap as well. I don't think that would save any money in the end. But it may be one way to go. |
