Back on topic . . . The simple check would be to unplug the flasher and ride the bike for an appropriate amount of time, and use hand signals, and see if the fuse pops again. Or replace the flasher with new, and ride and see if the fuse pops. If it doesn't, then the flasher was the issue. If it does, the problem is somewhere else. I had a somewhat similar situation with the same circuit years ago with an X-1. I eventually focused on the 'branch' of the main harness that serves the flasher and rear brake light switch. The harness branch was routed across the top if the oil tank in such a way as to have a sharp, almost 90deg bend. I rerouted that harness to eliminate the bend, and the problem went away. In your case, if the flasher Is Not the problem, then looking for a situation like mine would be in order. Or, it could be something as simple as a tie wrap that is too tight. Hope this helps, Dave |

BTW, if the fuse popping started right after change/work was done on a part of the wiring harness, that would be the place to start looking if the flasher is not the issue. Dave |

Good news. It was the flasher! Took the loose plastic out so it doesn't damage anything inside and taped it back up placed it next to the metal tab bracket so it sits a little lower. Here you can see it's all metal inside. Probably would never be an issue unless you install a cortech micro tank bag like me. lol!
Pic of the oberon signals. They are very bright at night and I think they look pretty good on the bike. At first I was going to go with rizomas but I saw a sale on these. I had some cheap $20 led signals before these. Next piece I will probably upgrade is my bar end mirror. It was a blast to ride today. Thanks everyone!!

Now you need to repair the Starter interlock safety...It WAS working correctly? How did you diagnose the flasher as the root cause? |

I just deleted the kickstand and clutch switch so it starts as usual. Before I had to have the kickstand up and clutch in to start it while in Neutral. Checked everything I modified. Looked over the entire bike. Ultimately it was Nate that said the flasher gets voltage even when not in use. Then it made sense because I had a ride on the fwy where the fuse popped once I accelerated. So it had to be it. |

what are you hoping to accomplish here? Not sure but why abuse me for having an opinion. don't forget the repeated failing ignition switch, side stand switch, and on and on . I blame water. Even the flasher unit is vulnerable. |
