You can still order keys from the dealers but if you don't have the key number (four digit code on the key under the black cover) they'll have to order it by your vin number. The problem with ordering by the vin is if your lock have ever been changed the keys will not match. If you think the locks have been changed and don't have the key number you'll need to contact a good locksmith to cut you a key $$ or order a new lock set $$$. For everyone reading this, WRITE DOWN YOUR KEY NUMBER IN A SAVE SPOT.  | ||

Do you need a duplicate key made of one you already have, or have you lost all of them? I just took my key to a place two days ago and they cut me a duplicate for $5. I've also taken the ignition from a 99 R1 into a locksmith and he made me a duplicate key for it based on the internals of the ignition. | ||

I just picked up a replacement set of keys for the steering lock on my 1997 M2. $30 was a bit steep, but compared to the price of a new steering lock assembly, it worked out well. | ||

The original key I got with my bike was looking a little worn, so I took it to a key place and they cut me a new one for just a few dollars. In typical fashion, I have since lost track of the original key, so now I'm back to just one... | ||

i got two replacement keys from HD no problem i have never tried to get lock smith to cut a barrel type key before. i'm expecting, key cutting to be a dieting art soon as all bikes & cars these days don't use keys. |
