I would make sure what ever you do it is rideable and not an up keep nightmare. Side note I once about 3 yrs ago raced my neihbor on his very built gxser 1100 with my stock 96 s1 I creamed him for 50-60 feet I have yet to see him after that as he was gone! Now with my upgrades I could take him for 70-80 ft! Lol He has helmet cam vid of his speedo maxed and you can here the rpm still increasing well over 170 mph! Never said the kid had much brains. I hit 120 on my sled and at that point I went to tunnel vision and it scared the crap out of me I was on a 10 ft wide wooded trail in Michigan. About a mile later I was doing 15 and got hit by an on coming sled and it totaled mine boy was I lucky! |

You mentioned Thunderbolt or Firebolt; as I recall, the heads on '97 M2 was still not even Thunderstorm, and the cams are soft as any recent Harley. M2 is set up for torque, not H.P. So even just X1 cams would bump the horsepower considerably, like 10? Any '99 or later engine would have Thunderstorm heads, so slightly more power still. Then + headwork, 1250 kit, big cams, exhaust etc, etc, you could have quite a bit more horsepower over stock '97 M2, all bolt-in, and nothing exotic or un-streetable. Check out the Dyno pages in the Knowledge Vault for some examples. |
