Ok so this time she turned off after riding all day going back home, as i let go off the gas i must of been in 4th gear, pulled over tried to start no juice battery is dead, the battery must be 4 months old, i tried charging it in my house with my charger it kept saying a bad battery could not charge it, i have it on my mechanics shop charging right now, waiting on him to call me after he test it.. my question this is the 3rd battery in a year that this bike has killed, i am planing to replace battery terminals and ground wire between the swing arm and bottom of the battery tray just to be safe, the last 2 times the charging system was checked and was fine this time i have not checked it yet until the other battery checks out, she been sitting since july started fine ran good for a couple of days. could it be that the stator or voltage regulator after it gets hot not working properly cause they both check out fine, or should i just replace terminals and see where that goes? |

Is it a cheap motor sports battery or an HD battery? Buells shake hard and if the batt is a "bargan" battery it may fail |

to my knowledge is not, then again the shop sold it to me so i guess you never know. the battery turned out to be fine. i am having the bike towed to his shop to test the stator and voltage regulator. i am hoping is a grounding issue cause the first battery i replaced did the same thing the bike stop running while i was riding thru traffic. |

Ground strap is at the rear of the engine and ties the engine and mount block to the frame IIRC its the braided strap bolted to the swing arm carrier. |

Have them install a voltmeter on the bike while they're at it just for your peace of mind. I use Yuasa batteries with good results; a previous owner on my X1W stuck in a cheapie Chinese battery which failed on a trip which was no fun at all. |

I think the battery on their is a a cheapie one is seems smaller then the one it had would that play a role in the issue? If the battery can't hold a charge or have a short in it, it will not make the bike to die out while riding loosing all power and evrytime i tried restarting it will just click and the display will die out and sometimes you hear the fuel pump cut on but the battery was dead ,I haven't heard anything back from the mechanic today I'll find out tomorrow for sure. |

You really need a high quality battery. Heat from the rear header made the case on the cheap Chinese one warp and I had to get a jump and then keep the bike running by manipulating the high/low beam switch. It was a rough ride for the last 70 miles but we made it back into the driveway. I installed a Yuasa battery and all has been good ever since which would be 18 months. |

Jean I tried that before, the first one lasted 6 months then the other one leaked all over the tray thru those rubber sealers on top. I had to replace wires, I'm going to jims harley they got one for 129.00 and it can be laid down and it is a sealed battery (Message edited by tony302 on November 04, 2015) |
