I have a S1W. Will the 2007 XB12SS oil pump bolt right up to my bike? It looks like the line fittings are different. Can I screw my original pump line fittings into this 2007 pump? Digging through archives has not provided a clear answer. Just trying to get the upgraded pump without dropping $200. Found a used one on Ebay off a 2007. Just looking for some clarification. Appreciated. (Message edited by Valguard on October 28, 2015) |

The 07 pumps are better but I would recommend opening it and checking for gauges in the body or the base. I just put a used 07 pump in my 06 Ulysses. I opened it and found my original lower piece to be in better shape, as it had light gauges in it under the gears, whereas the 07 lower had deep gauges. I lapped the surface of the older lower on a piece of glass to clean up most of the light gauging, then cleaned it thoroughly and installed it onto the bottom of the 07 pump. |

That's a good point. Just to clarify, you used the case of your 06 oil pump with the internals of the 07 pump, right? Nice. Also, seems like you are confirming the the oil pump is a direct swap and fittings etc can just be swapped over. The only thing that changed is the size of the gears inside, from the old to the new, right? If so, perfect. Thanks so much for your help! |

No, I used the case of the 07 pump, though it does look to be the same. The bottom plate that holds the bottom fittings is the one I reused from the old pump. Always a good idea to thoroughly check used 07 XB pumps because of the slew of 07 crank failures from bad bearings. But in that case, 08-up XL pumps. (except XR) are the same 07 oil pump. |

OK, I see what you're saying. Thanks again. I was able to get the pump off eBay for $25. Should be in next week and I'll take it apart to make sure its good and the right one. I'll take my original one apart too and see what I can use. I really appreciate it! Thanks. |
