had some cylinder work done recently and had the mechanic install the new front isolator (from american sport bike) since he was dropping the motor anyway. well I get it back and it feels like I'm shaking a box of rocks when riding! especially when I throttled. It sits in front of my house now - Can any one give some insight on the iso mounting procedure? it appears to be installed correctly, all the heim joints are installed correctly and adjusted as they were before. If the iso is not torqued correctly, could that yield the symptoms? I don't see a "scrubber" as is pictured the instructions - should this be visible and is it over or under the frame? Did I once read on here "The worse thing you could do to your buell is put it in the hands of a Harley Mechanic"? Love some thought before bringing this back to solve. |

You could compare it with the pic here, http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/769580.html?1442255119 |

If he reused the D washer on the new isolator mount and installed it backwards you will get that vibration in the bars. The new mount does not use a d washer but I would check to just be sure. Gian 4 |

Brother in Buells - its hard to decipher but I don't see the large washer on top of your isolator. could this be the issue? |

It looks to be called "the snubber" in the instructions |

If its the updated isolator they put in, see figure 4 notched frame, or figure 5 unnotched. Either one the snubber, #8 is shown at the bottom of the isolator. In your pics its at the top. The isolator already has a large snubber washer molded into the top. Your installation add an extra at the top but leaves nothing on the bottom. The rubber should be sandwiched between the two but yours leaves the bottom open. The isolater can't do its job this way. I can see how this would allow it to shake more both up and down side to side, and back and forth. |

I pulled the snubber and placed it under the frame, above the motor mount (in between) it is the only place it will fit besides the top of the isolator. I torqued in back in to 66ft/lbs. Problem Solved. Rode 70 miles today and it is snug as a bug and the motor is running like a top. NOW.... the shock is starting to seep... Frustration for Buell is almost as high as my love of riding this thing. Anyone know of a used Penske (14.5") out there for a 220lb rider? I'm in the market.... |

IMPROPER INSTALLATION(ie:SAFETY): The OEM ISOLATOR BOLT(PN 2936Y 1/2 13X3-3/4,hex hd. in my 1997 S3 PARTS BOOK) has a LARGER OD BOLT, anybody notice that ??? This is a RETRO fix part from the BIG TWIN Model where the engine sits on this part ... No where does it say to hold the BOLT and TORQUE the NUT in any FACTORY Information !!! WHY YOU ASK, WELL IF YOU TORQUE THE BOLT IT CAUSES A TWIST STRESS ON THE ISOLATOR AND IT WILL NOT LAST AS LONG !!! |
