I like to do this to mine? My local shop does not do it..how many of you have done it to your tubers exhaust?? Does the outside temp stop burning your thigh and leg?? Does it last or am I just hoping for too much  pics would be nice too | ||

I send my stuff to Jet-Hot... I've done it to 4 different Buells and just sent them a cross over and headers for one of my Moto Guzzis. It lasts and does help with heat. I recommend it! | ||

I used to use Jet-Hot exclusively but ran into quality issues that necessitated sending parts back multiple times for recoating. I've used Classic Coatings on my last 3 bikes(Cr, Blast, X1). I'd heard that Classic Coatings did the blue ceramics on the White Lightning but haven't verified. Whoever you use, I highly recommend it.   | ||

I'd heard that Classic Coatings did the blue ceramics on the White Lightning You heard wrong. HPC originally did some ceramic coating for Buell - like the silver header on X1 Millennium. By the time of the X1W, I believe that the merging of HPC and Jet-Hot had taken place as I recall Jet-Hot being used for the X1W's blue header. Classic Coatings did do most of the Buell powdercoating - I'm not aware of Classic Coatings doing any Buell ceramic coating, 1313 | ||

Thanks Tony. I completely understand the pain of polishing. The polished subframe and swingarm are gorgeous but I don't have the time to keep them looking as good as they deserve. Doesn't help that I'm particular and keep the inside of the swingarm polished as well. One of the reasons I'm looking for someone that can give her the attention she deserves. Yeah I used to polish the rims every weekend I just got tired of it, I was going to send the tail and wheels to get them polished but I was end up being a slave to my self..thanks for the link, now the choice it between black or silver coating, I just can't stand my leg cooking inside from the heat of the pipe.. | ||

If you are experiencing heat issues while your riding, might be the tune you are running? i don't notice heat from the pipes, i used jet hot coating ( Silver ) on my Dyna twin cam mostly because pipes where custom had nothing on the bare metal & i don't like chrome on pipes. there was no performance gain at all, but they looked nice coated & was like alloy to polish. soon after turning motor off i noticed they cooled fast so could touch pipe not get burnt, like with Chrome Pipes. but when motor running you could not touch them they were hot but not quite as hot as without. still nice look. | ||

I have had a few pipes ceramic coated. Jet Hot was one of them. They did a very nice job including spraying the inner part of the pipe. The shipping was quite a bit. I cannot say how long they lasted as I sold them a year later because I wanted a different style. I then went to a local shop and it looked great. It only lasted less than a year with tiny rust pits showing thru. Then I tried another local shop and told the owner about the last shop. This job has lasted for 3 years so far. Preparation of the parts is usually the most important part. This is the same as with any job. Ask for references. I hope this helps. Good luck. | ||

I also went with Jet-Hot. They did need to do it twice since it started pealing after the first application. I went with them because of who they are and their reputation of quality workmanship so needless to say, I was disappointed. The second time was the charm. No issues and they covered all costs including shipping to and from them. Looks and turned out great......  | ||

Jkgonzo I love your color scheme, I'm going going for all black my self got a few things to go.I see your front motor mount is blacked out, I'll have to send that out to get powder as well I like the look..as far as the pipes go did the black make a significant notice in surface temp as in does it cook your leg still?? | ||

I like the look of Ceramic coated headers & have had Harley headers coated in past, but when riding at speed i could not notice heat or less heat. i've been riding Harleys since the late 70's. the M2 i have now does not feel like its running too hot? if i was in heavy traffic maybe , but i don't sit in traffic i split the lanes. the pipe on the M2 not close to my leg, but my friends 97 S1 pipe goes over the frame so that would be closer to leg. all the bikes in these pictures inside frame pipe. so can someone explain why everyone notices heat without ceramic coating? i am riding up the coast today will be on my M2 for five hours. its winter here in Australia so warmer is good. cheers | ||

I feel no discomfort from the header heat in my X1. But I hardly ever get stuck in any traffic. | ||

Well I do, at least I used to I only ride when I'm home now,I live in st.pete fl and used to ride to Tampa for work and always got stuck in traffic, I just want to do it for looks I done a lot on the x1 powder coat wise just doing the whole black out on her. | ||

I noticed a big difference in the amount of heat on my silver ceramic pipe. I'd taken off the plastic Heat Shield already (for looks) and after adding the ceramic, it really doesnt' need it. I couldn't believe the difference, after a long ride, I can hold my hand literally a quarter inch away from the outside of the header pipe (near the rear bend) indefinitely, as in it isn't even uncomfortable. The stock pipe would blister your skin that close. Very worthwhile upgrade IMHO. | ||
