the local Buell group doesn't meet as often as it used to, but u can join the group thru the Yahoo group Hellbuellies or the FB group. Thursday nights are the usual meet nights, at Mean Eyed Cat, and some other randon spots. There are a few tuber savvy peeps still around... |

Invest a little time and become familiar with ECMSpy. It's time well spent and gives you view into the "software" (or softer) side of the beast..... |

It's likely the intake seals need replacing, could be part of the problem. Not a maintenance item other brand owners have to deal with. |

The Isolators are on their way. I went ahead and bought a front one as well. I also ordered an intake from Airtech, I think it'll look good and serve its purpose better than my current one. ECMspy does interest me. I should just sit down and learn about it sometime. Maybe I'll stop by the mean eyed cat next thursday. maybe I'll have the belt on by then. |

My apologies, those are indeed the old style isolators in there. I must have been unusually brain dead when I said they were the late style. |

While I think of it, make sure to use the correct shouldered bolt for that clutch lever. A previous owner of my X1W cobbled together some sort of abortion and the bolt snapped in two while I was riding around. I was lucky that enough of it was still screwed into the lower part of the housing so that I could get home and replace it with the correct part. |

thanks steve, I did. it was almost 5 bucks for the bolt, and another 5 for the nut, but it is taken care of. |

After taking my time and collecting parts, My buddy and I began the teardown of the bike. We are gonna go through it and make sure everything is safe, and replace a few things as well: front isolator, rear isolators, flasher (switching it to LED), front turn signals, primary tensioner, drive belt, oil lines, etc. I picked up a new air intake from airtech, but I still need to cut the proper holes into it. I am just glad that I got it up in the air on my lift. we got into it and had to make a couple tool runs, but I think once we get more time to work on it it shouldn't take us too much time. this is how it sits right now. that tube frame is so cool! wish it wasn't porno red though!

I got into it today a little bit and got a chance to look at the oil lines that need to be replaced. does anyone have advice on how to remove and reinstall them? also, what is ideal tubing to use? I asked for some high pressure rubber line at o'reilly's but they gave me the low pressure stuff. I don't want to use it if it is going to collapse. just trying to find what is best to use as a replacement.the PO had used RTV on the ends of the lines to try to help with the leaking problem, and obviously it just didn't cut it. time to get in and do it right. |

It is awesome! I won it in a giveaway and haven't used it much since, but I have it set up in my friend's garage now. It's stable, mobile and stores easily.it can be operated by hand or pneumatically. This one is the cruiser model. |

The above link is mine I can give you detailed instructions if you want to go that way. As far as reg oil lines what you have is fine the only high pressure line is the small front one. Make sure it is routed clean no sharp bends and go for it. i like this tool instead of hose clamps (Message edited by S1owner on June 22, 2015) |

That is a handy tool for sure. Can you give some more info on it? (Message edited by figorvonbuellingham on June 23, 2015) |

Yeah, I've been eying those tools for a while too but they are a bit steep in terms of initial cost. Wormgear clamps are soo cheap. And I am soooo broke. |

Is that a standard safety wire tool, or something else? |

that looks like a really awesome tool! I think this time I am gonna go with high pressure fuel line clamps. they look good, they don't dig into the rubber, and they are already in my toolbox |

Had a slightly productive weekend! managed to get those busted oil lines replaced. I just used the harley stuff because it was easy to get. at this point I want to do it right, but I also don't want to spend an arm and a leg getting it back on the road. In order to replace those oil lines without removing the swingarm attachment block, I fed the new line in one end while I had someone pull the old line out. after snipping a zip tie it worked great! I replaced all the crappy worm drive clamps with high pressure fuel line clamps, and made sure to give myself a few extra inches of slack in case there is ever any chewing up on either end. I'll get some pics next time. I also managed to get the rear isolators out, but it was really difficult. I used the "scott-free" method and the allthread actually began to bend before it got spread apart far enough to remove the old ones. to get the second one out it was as easy as holding the swingarm and the frame with my hands and squeezing the two together, while my friend pried it free with a screwdriver. I also replaced the oil filter with a fram PH8A, it is much bigger but seems to seal just the same. should keep the bike just a little bit cooler with the extra oil capacity. next time I will probably spray it black before putting it on, as the orange and black fram colors are a little grabby for a filter I'll get some photos up in the not-so-distant future. after I finish with the rear isolators, I think next thing will be replacing the front and then moving on into the primary to replace the tensioner. the PO welded the muffler onto the header, and used a crappy flat-sided piece of exhaust tube to do it as well. I no longer trust this bike to have ANYTHING done properly on it. one other problem I noticed, maybe y'all might have some input... my clutch cable has a really small end piece compared to the spot for it in the clutch handle. I was wondering if anyone could snap a photo of the end of the clutch cable in the clutch lever housing for me. It has a nice looking, new clutch cable... I don't know if it is the right cable or not though. I think I am gonna go ahead and order a new lever since this one is wallered out, but I would rather not buy another cable if I don't have to. |

thanks man! I will snap some photos of mine this weekend and then let you know. the round thing at the end of the cable on mine is smaller. maybe it is missing that metal thing that is around the one in your first picture. |
