Yeah, but you can only use once at a time. Buy a front and a rear from CG and get two for 100 bucks VS 85 for one (that will perform as front OR rear, not both at same time) | ||

^true but I rarely if ever need to do that and one quality stand is better than two cheap ones. I've never liked the pin with spring and cotter pin arrangement YMMV | ||

one quality stand isnt better when you need two at once Nice observation Captain Obvious! I've owned my S3 since 2005 and never needed two..... The only time I needed both ends up the forks were coming off and I just lifted the entire bike with an engine hoist. | ||

My main point was to avoid the ones that use a lifting plate that has a pin, spring and cotter pin. In my experience they are clumsy to adjust and center the bike on the stand. It is very easy to be all the way on one lifting plate, but almost off of the other. Buy one that holds a width adjustment so it is ready to go, easy to use and less likely to have your bike fall off. The one I purchased was the same price as others with better lift plate designs and had the added benefit of use at both ends. For me that was perfect, if you prefer two that's ok too (joking with you above - hence the wink), but I stand by my preference to spend more for something easier to use and less likely to drop the bike. After reading the reviews on the CG stands, I think I will save my money for a rear pit bull stand. If you go to the pit bull website they do not recommend only lifting the front of the bike. | ||

Cycle Gear was alright 20 years ago, but now seems like a Chinese emporium. I haven't bought anything there in a long time. There's one close to my work, and I go by there every month....to get the latest CityBike newspaper. | ||

I got the cyclegear front and rears, they are fine...been using them for a few years, haven't let me down...all my bikes have about the same fork width though. Jack stands make a good front end lift if you got a buddy to help you lift up the bike and place them | ||

I bought a cheap stand off Amazon last year and it has worked great. I needed one that was adjustable (spring) so it would fit multiple bikes. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AV8HSA6 It is probably about the same quality as CG but I had a gift card to Amazon. I imagine I could remove the spring and put a few washers on each side to fix the width to a specific bike. Robert |
