Hello BadWeatherBikers- I am a 5'-8" sport cruiser guy who recently bought a 2000 M2 from a 6'-6" wannabe track guy, so I am doing a lot of shopping on eBay. I've been studying BWB posts about fitment. I would like to see how those few have fit S3 saddlebag subframes to M2 frames. I'm pretty sure I can make a spacer to hang the front top bracket off of, not exactly sure what to do with the subframe's back bracket. Previous bike is an '88 Sportster 1200 which I ran tranny dry for a couple days, Oops, sorry, so I'm rebuilding it for eventual sale. Its countershaft washers arrive by end of week so hopefully I'll have fewer projects next week. |

you're on the right path I bought the S3 sideracks for my '99 M2 to keep my gigantor Oxxford textile bags offa the R wheel what you're contemplating is what kept me from immediately mounting it, yet it's totally doable with just a li'l trouble please send pix once you've succeeded |

The bottom mount of the saddlebag subframe mounts easily behind the passenger footpeg with a 2-1/2" bolt, but I had to use 4 split type lockwashers because the clearance was so tight. The extra length accommodates a coupling nut which may just be extraneous. I attached the tail mount with 2 10 inch long steel straps that are actually brackets with predrilled holes. I had to bend them up with a hammer so they would fit over the top of the cyclone frame. Easy and ugly, will be covered by tail section. The mounting near the seat is not done. There is a scissors jack there to replace the rear shock for a M2L low shock. I found a piece of aluminum angle which I've cut and will fabricate a quick bracket. Really, any oversized angle will work, you just provide the hole, which is the story of my life. Kidding, I just always wanted to say that. I will post ugly pics when done. Sure it can be done classier, but right now I'm going for speed. Saddlebags feel very secure even with 2 of the 3 mounts in. |
