I can find no mention of separate trans oil. Sport trans fluid no longer available, many use synthetic 20W50. GL-5 gear oil (75W-90 or similar), whether synthetic or conventional, will eat your stator. DAMHIK. Sport Trans is no longer available from HD, but Formula + is. It's factory fill on 2006-up XB's, but seems to work well in tubers too.   Reepicheep Posted on Sunday, November 30, 2014 - 11:39 am:        Formula+ is a good choice as it has good additives for transmissions (that can't be put in engine oil) but won't eat stator insulation. There are plenty of good gear oil choices, and plenty of good non stator eating choices, but we don't have much good data on which oils are both. We know the HD Formula+ oil is one.   Bikerrides Posted on Sunday, November 30, 2014 - 12:23 pm:        After having a throwout bearing go bad with syn3 in the trans, my HD/Buell certified mechanic that is self employed recommended Formula+ in the trans and Syn3 in the bag. He said bearing issues like that were not that uncommon when using synthetic engine oil in the trans. I switched to Formula+ and haven't had an issue yet. It's specifically made just for thus purpose. A lot of shops won't carry it though because they have to order it by the case. I got mine from A&M Cycle when I was in Amarillo and I know we have a case or so here at the shop. He won't use anything at his shop but this. It's about 8 bucks a quart.
