Went to the San Mateo MC show last weekend (ho hum...) and picked up the new Twisted Throttle catalog, and found this: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/sw-motech-adjustabl e-folding-gear-shift-lever-for-bmw-r1200gs-04-12-r 1200gs-adventure-06-13 But it would take some confabulating to fit the folding toe piece to my Banke shifter. The Sato brand comes in a Left and a Right, but I can't see to deduce what the difference would be IF the toe piece can be rotated in it's attachment point. I want to fold in to the rear instead of the typical front. So would that be a 'left' or a 'right'? The Sato is supposed to fit All Sato rearsets, including the Sportster (Storz copy!) one, but I can't tell which way the peg would fold in the case of the Sportster: http://www.satoracing.com/rearsetshdss.htm Anybody know about any of these? That stuff is cool enough to make me (almost) want to buy an older sportster and turn it into a street tracker just so I can justify buying that stuff! unfortunately I know where just such a bike is for a great price... those are some nice parts and pieces! | ||

Sato got back to me that the only difference between left and right is to put the clip-end down (on pivot pin.) They also said they've stopped making the one pictured, and are coming out with a new version "soon". In a manner that is quite annoying, they stopped short of being truly informative; they didn't say what advantage the new one will have over the existing, they didn't answer whether this toe piece can rotate around it's mounting bolt to change the direction of fold. Since that's the only way the Eccentric one by Woodcraft could work, I guess I'll assume it does. There are a couple brands that will not; I'm not even considering these. I did find one that seems to fold both ways, which makes the mounting of it way more versatile, but the mounting center is like .5 or .75 inch diameter; whichever, it seemed too big to fit the end of my Banke shifter. |
