Did all S2Ts come stock with the lower fairings?

Yes.

Here's what some of the prototypes looked like.

Thanks Court.

Do they actually provide much protection?
Any heat problems with them on?

Worked fine in the 44 states I tried them in . . .

:-)

My legs, clad in my Aerostich, fit nicely inside of them. They seemed to keep the rain and some breeze off me.

I never had any heat problems except the pipe bring the fairing (see above photo). Al my Aerostich's carry the "Mark of the Thunderbolt".

And . . well . . gosh . . look how happy I looked.

:-)

I found and added lowers to my S2T since it didn't have them when I got it (used). They add decent protection, though not as much as I'd like. I kinda push the limits of rideable weather though. On days above 50-55 degrees they are great, but I ride in 30-40* weather in the mornings this time of year ao I still feel plenty of windchill on my legs.

Phelan, any additional brackets need to be found to mount them?

P clamps with nuts and bolts to hold them on, 3 for each lower. You can get them at Lowe's or Home Depot though, dirt cheap. 1 1/4" if I remember correctly.

Thanks, I had to look up P clamp, never heard them called that before.

Yeah my lowers came with the P clamps but I had to get some to hold the rear of the saddlebag bracket to the frame. They were like $1.50 or so for the pair. Always check Lowe's, Sutherlands, or Home Depot for hardware before ordering expensive stuff. Specialty grade 8 bolts are one thing, but P clamps, wellnuts and general bolts/screws are way cheaper at these department stores. I replaced all the wellnuts on my bike for under $15 from Sutherlands.

I would add that the lowers fairing seem to aid with airflow to the rear cylinder.

Actually, there are 4 clamps you will need. 1 #18 clamp and 3 # 17 clamps. The #18 requires the clip nut as it goes on the right side top rear and would not allow for screw/nut application with the frame configuration.

You can still get the clamps. I ordered the #17 clamps from Hal's two weeks ago.

Finally, in the looks category, the fairing lowers do set the bike apart.

Here is the Buell Part Numbers you'll need...

Left fairing, primed only, 58890-94Y
Left fairing, Parkway Blue, 58922-96Y
Left fairing, Quicksilver metallic, 58924-96Y

Right fairing, primed only, 58891-94Y
Right fairing, Parkway Blue, 58919-96Y
Right fairing, Quicksilver metallic, 58921-96Y

Clamp, #17 (3), 62740-95Y
Clamp, #18 (1), 62741-95Y
Clipnut, (1), 58235-94Y

From the hardware store...

Screw, (6) you decide length
Nylon washers, (6)
Lockwasher, (4), or you could use a nylok nut
Nut, (3), or you could use a nylok nut

If you require the actual Buell Part Numbers for the hardware, I could add them to this thread.

Whoops, TS is right. The top front of the lowers is held in by the tank cover screws, not a P clamp. I forgot about that.

I'm not sure they have them on hand, but they may be able to order them for you.

Mine came with them when I bought it 2 years ago.

You may also want to post in the BadWeb Classifieds for WANTED parts. Here's the link...

Yes I probably will do that.
As I don't yet have the bike in my possession, I don't want to jinx anything by buying parts first.

Logic! : )

Hi John, for whatever reason I haven't been receiving PMs. I think it has to do with hotmail filtering, which sucks. Please email me at phelan_z06@hotmail.com. Thanks!
