So think I just purchased some pre-recall s2t bars - ground at the bottom where they are welded to the bars. Has anyone tried to strengthen them by wielding a cross bar? I would loose the flexibility but gain strength to keep them from breaking the wield is my thought. | ||

The issue with recalled bars is the upper part of the cuff is not welded to the handlebar tubing at all , the sides on those are welded , just not the top . Always makes me laugh ...... My first one came off, the left side, in turn #3 at Heartland Park. I was being passed and I recall the fellow looking at me holding the bar The good news is that they " telegraph" ( feel wobbly and sloppy) prior to detaching | ||

Good story Court , I'm sure there are many campfire stories you could share . One of the guys I work with built this wookity chopper and used low grade bolts to mount the handlebar risers. After a short time they both snapped off ,luckily at low speed , he got scuffed up a bit , this was five years ago , we still tease him . After posting my last message yesterday , I remembered another detail about the defective handlebars , the tubing was notched where it is attached to the cuff . The later versions had tubing that was formed / flattened in this area . The notched handlebars are the widowmaker versions and should be thrown away , I have personally destroyed a few of them ( not by crashing ). | ||

In addition, it's an easy fix to stiffen up the "pre-recall" units. >>>I'm sure there are many campfire stories you could share . Comes from riding Buells for about 30 years. :-) | ||

Hahahaha . . . then I'm sure you've got some good campfire stories as well. In addition to the test riding I did I've ridden Buell in 44 states and met over 5,000 incredible, and passionate owners, over the years. . the stuff stories are made of! Some of them still need the statute of limitations to run before we can share! :-) |
