Hey guys, I'm interested in going "naked" and removing the small fly screen on my M2. I have the 2nd gen M2 dash plate with tach and would like to lower the whole cluster to sit nearly on top of the headlight rather than sticking way up where the top of the screen used to be. Are there kits out there for this or how have some of you done this mod? Thanks for the input. |

I don't think there are kits for this kind of thing, but what I did on my XL1200S for a similar result is I lowered the headlight slightly and mounted my gauge panel onto the top triple tree rather than on the risers. On an M2 you would have to drill holes into the triple to do it; I used the headlight mounting holes on my XL, which were in the top triple. |

every once in a while I see a "drop gauge panel" set up on ebay. someone out there is selling a gauge mount that mounts to the stock set up but has a design element that drops the gauges about 1 to 1.5 inches |

Be careful of moving the headlamp clamps on the forks as did this as wanted the windshield at a different height and on full lock they didn't contact the lock stops but the top yoke contacted the tank instead and marked it so quickly put it back to where it was. |

Dutch x1- Thanks, that's close to what I'm looking for, but not quite and way to pricey, lol. V74- I'm not looking to move the headlamp, just the instruments, so I don't think clearance will be an issue. But thanks for the heads-up. |

With my M2 I bought a X1 instrument cluster and X1 carbon fibre flyscreen I then bought an aluminium top handlebar clamp,Drilled and tapped it for the instrument cluster. When set up it placed the cluster at a lower angle leaving a lot of the flyscreen proud so I lowered the headlamp clamps to line up the top of the flyscreen with the instrument cluster, I really liked the look but as soon as I saw the top yoke hit the fuel tank back up went the headlamp clamps. You live and learn. |
