Well the stock mirrors on my S2 wont stay where I want them. not sure if they are stripped or can be tightened up. If not then looking for a set of mirrors or replacements?? I see emgo doesn't list replacements anymore for Buell. Any ideas on this?? | ||

They no longer made and the ones left are pricey. Al has two left side mirrors in stock last I heard (not listed on site). The common trick is to put them where you want them and super glue them in place. | ||

Yah Ross, its seems like there are only left side available. wtf everyone dropping or crashing on the right side or what. lol. I got a new left side but need a right. May be supergluing or something on the current ones. They both with vibration and bumps move while riding. | ||

If super glue doesn't work, I've had luck with "plastic welder" brand 2 part epoxy from O'Reilly. | ||

Jeff, Ross, use loctite blue on the ball by the mirror and the Clevis by the base. Let it sit over night and you are set. This is why people replace the original mirrors. | ||

Thanks Neal. I actually have modified XBR mirrors but I do the same to keep them in place  . | ||

Black 1/4 " set screw at the center of upper triangle of letter "A" of "FAR" will do the magic. It is adjustable, looks clean. Mines are working for last 5 years with no issue. Drill through letter "A". Be gentle it is plastic and ball is metal, stop when you "feel" the metal. Optionally tap a thread (I did). Tighten the set screw until it lightly bottoms. Turn just a little (~1/4 turns) at a time until it holds up. No I do not have a picture now... My 2 cents. (Message edited by s2forever on August 25, 2014) | ||

A good alternative is a Yamaha snowmobile mirror.I've been running them for over ten years.They look similar and stay where you put them.They take a small mod to the mirror base to work on an S2.The part numbers are: Pair 8CR-W2628-00-00 Left 4SV-26280-00 Right 4SV-26290-00    | ||

It has been quite a while since I road with stock mirrors,but as I recall the Yamaha mirrors are as good if not better as far as rear view goes than the stockers.And the best part is,they don't move. | ||

I went through some boxes and found two sets of mirrors. They are not perfect , a couple of scuffs ( not road rash) that can be polished out , a couple of them are nice. Should I put them on ebay ? or ........ | ||

Just to it so that it is "adjustable". I used "cup point" set screw. Mcmaster part number is 91375A194 (8-32 X 1/2 ", as shown in the picture above). If you want it stronger somehow (I don't) 10-32 and/or knurled cup point screw will do. Do not tighten too much, it is plastic. Turn 1/4 at a time, check if it holds up. A day or two later you may need to tighten it up a little. And you are good to go for coming 10 years. (Message edited by s2forever on September 11, 2014) | ||

I did the set screw mod to my S2 the other day. I found the set screws at Fastenal. They have a bag of 10 for 3 bucks. Florida weather has not allowed me to test them out unfortunately  | ||

Okay, first real ride with the set screws and it is a success. Well over an hour at freeway speeds and the mirrors were rock solid..  | ||

You can also take a punch and dimple the ball to add a bit of high material and take out slop. | ||

If not overtightened, still adjustable and fold rather than break when hit, to boot. | ||

John, yes the set screw is just in the plastic if you add it there. It's not there by factory. | ||

Set screw is only providing a bit of tension on the rotating ball. Not much stress on the threads.. Now I get to look at what is behind me instead of my boots  |
