"I really recommend the Drummer, ordering one for my X1 to replace a Vance and Hines." Where is a good place to get one? |

Are they supposed to have that strap that's attached to the left engine cover? Mine doesn't have that... |

The cable strap was a safety recall or bulletin. |

So on the race header, the rear tube drops straight down behind the edge of the case? |

"Where is a good place to get one?" AL or Kevin Drummer himself. You can go to the website and order one I think. I ordered mine from AL. If Dean had one available at the time I would of went with him but you can't beat a drummer. Love mine and not too loud. |

The main difference on a race header is, the collector. It is pointed to the rear, not across. My S1W has an early race header. My M2, below, has a late race header. Collector outlet is pointed at the same place as the early S1W race header, but the primary tubes follow the later under-frame routing.

I recently had the pleasure of talking to Henry Duga, as he looked over my carbon S1 at the Iron horse EBR night. Mr Duga was Erik Buells first employee. He told me about how he was the one to bend the pipes that became the first S1 frame. He also told me about the advent of the race pipe. It was a very scientific and technically advanced process that was behind this piece of hardware. Remind me to tell you about it some time. (Message edited by tod662 on August 27, 2014) |

Just kidding. Mr Duga told me that the complex process consisted of him messing around one day and welding an elbow on a S2 race pipe and testing it on the dyno, it made a 9 horse gain, he then made a similar pipe of 2.25 pipe which didn't make much of a difference, so job done, a little fabrication and testing, finished. and it is still to my knowledge the best power producing exhaust for Buells most kick ass bike. |

I would be interested in a race header/muffler knock off. 2.5 inch for my S1W and possibly a 2.0 inch for my S2. Either this or talk to Kevin and Drummer. (Message edited by jefc73 on August 27, 2014) |

Making either one won't be all that difficult, it's just a matter of the mounting points and total length of the muffler shell. |

I have a new one that could be used as template, if I could then get another at a discount. |

What's the outside diameter of the race can? I made mine 4" since it's the size I already use for other systems I make and it seemed to fit well. |

Larger than 4". Maybe 6 or 7...I'll try and measure this weekend. Although...they're probably going to put four or five stitches in my left hand today so that's gonna slow me down somewhat... |

Saw another pic today, it's an oval shape, not actually round. Looks like it's a 2.5" internal anyway, so what I make will be similar. |

Dean, rough measurements standing on my head with a tape measure are oval shaped roughly 4" x 5" and 12 3/4" long and if I remember correctly from my repack job the core was roughly 2.5" |

Here is a link to a thread I had earlier this year about the exhaust I had made for my M2 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/739728.html?1400997280 It turned out great. Very throaty sound. (Message edited by koz5150 on August 29, 2014) |

Hey Koz, How's that pipe working out for you? I was thinking about doing something like that. Do you have a baffle in it? |

It's great. I actually switched the baffle out from this one
to this one
to reduce the noise a bit. I love the first baffle, but for commuting, it was droning inside my helmet a bit much. If I am out just riding for fun it is great. |

quote: would send a pm to D_Adams and see what he can make for you. http://www.deanadamsdesigns.com/ He doesn't list tuber exhausts, but I'm sure he could build one for you. Also Albert666 makes tuber exhausts, but he's in the UK so shipping may be a bit more. http://www.aph-performance-engineering.com/ Both make excellent products
shipping really isn't an issue from the uk, you'll find the price inc shipping on a par with what you'll get in the states. these were some of the last tuber headers/silencers i did, branching out into other areas as well now
