I'm pretty sure mine has been cut and re-welded to alleviate the S2 lean. I didn't realize it till I got it next to another S2. Jolly has made some gorgeous billet side plates that use an X1 kickstand as well. Some people also put a certain "bend" in their kickstand to make it lean less. | ||

The low cost fix: Dismount slowly Always park it in gear Never let it idle on the kickstand Try to park facing uphill whenever possible Pin the kickstand down with your foot when leaning it onto the kickstand and dismounting. None of this fixes the issue...but they are all free... | ||

I am having a very small batch run, if you want one I think I can still add it to this run. The price is material, labor and shipping, I make nothing on this venture. 650.00 shipped for a left plate, or 1050.0 for a full set shipped. If you want insurance on the shipping thats additive as well but I will get an exact quote for exactly how much insurance you want prior to mailing out. I make no money on these, I am simply passing on the part to guys that want it. It does make your S2 as "safe" on the kick stand as any other tube frame buell. I have a video taken of me shaking my bike side to side to see if it will fall of the kickstand (gotta test it somehow right?) and I also have a video of it idling in the drive way on the kick stand. | ||

Is there a detailed method somewhere, for the bends which greatly improve the stock stand? I would like to give that a try, but see no need to reinvent the wheel. Thanks! | ||

Just the left billet plate and some mounting hardware. You have to source your own X1 kickstand. IIRC this is a hand-milled piece made from solid billet, extreme quality as well. | ||

The plates are CNC milled from a single piece of stock. for $650.00 the left plate will come with the plate, the kickstand return spring connecting pin, the roll pin for the isolator index, the kickstand pivot pin and the kickstand pivot pin circlip, you have to supply your own kickstand from a newer tube frame Buell. Any will fit except the M2Low which is an inch shorter. you have to also supply your own mounting hardware (4 bolts) that mount the plate to the frame and your new isolators if you are going to replace them as long as the plate(plates) are off. If you want one I need to know quickly, the material has already been ordered and he will start production this week and I need to get it in this run or it will be a while before he tools up again for this job for me. I am away from my photos so cant post anything till tonight, however there are photos in the history of this thread. let me know if you want one and I will add it to the order if its not too late. if you want me to ship the plate with insurance thats additive as well, again, I know these are expensive and I am making no money off them, just simply covering my expenses, but they have really transformed my S2 when its leaning on the kick stand. I'm the same way, for $650.00 I ought to be able to do something to the bike that enhances it's motion, not it's state of rest... but if it ever fell over on the kickstand... I am going to pass on the plates. When I have time off I will take the bike to welder and have the stand tweaked. | ||

I understand completely! They are expensive for sure, but really the best fix. If you cant fix it a different way shoot me a note if you ever change your mind and want to order a set or a single left plate. | ||

I would love to have one of my S2 kickstands bent for me.....who can do that? I have an extra one.......I have plates on one of my s2's but cannot afford for the other one. will have to do with a bent stand....REX | ||

All the bent stand does is keep it from leaning over as far, it still doesn't "lock" into place and keep it from folding and allowing the bike to fall. I have a set of the prior "aftermarket" sideplates that use a tuber stand - the stand pivots beyond "down" and into a "forward" position, helping keep the bike from being able to roll forward at all. Mine also has a notch/bump that the stand swings into, to help hold it in the extended position. AND, it sits more upright  | ||

Ratbuell- Exactly! Main focus has been the lean angle but it's actually a multi problem issue. Most significant is probably the fact that the stock design does not pull the kickstand forward and hold it in place. The lean angle is simply an uncomfortable/unnatural lean angle which adds to the problem. These plates, as the original "aftermarket" plates, fix all issues. And I made some small additional improvements over the original aftermarket (Gilbert plates) plates based on feedback from those that have them. Just say when... Or...we could hit WVBR mid-August...but I have to fix / replace a couple more broken turn signals first. |
