I was about to throw away my K&N filter which I had on my bike because it looks pretty bad IMO, but my friends was like "nooo, it is K&N, just clean and oil it and it will outlive you". So how it is? Can be this bad looked one (which IMO experienced both world wars ) cleaned, oiled, and used again? Whats your experiences?

Your friend is right. wash in a soapy bucket of water using liquid dish soap. gently spray rinse from the inside out. When the bucket water gets dirty start over and do it again. |

Could be worse. The K&N cleaning and recharge kit is the bees knees. My brother and I split one to clean our filters. The kit is cheap and good for at least 5 or more times. |

If there are no holes....clean it, re-oil it, and keep using it. |

Thank you guys, I really thought it is just false advertising that it can last almost "forever". There are no holes whatsoever, it is only a bit squashed - it was attached a bit too tight, but nothing bad. So I will try the k&n kit. Thanks again |

I just cleaned the K&N filter in my Jeep using the kit and it looked like brand new, again. Read the instructions and go easy with the oil. I've had this filter for almost 10 years. (Message edited by kalali on July 21, 2014) |

My K&N looked just like that... the same squashed-ness. |

I use 409 spray to clean. Comes out almost white quickly! Get the spray oil. It is too easy to put too much oil on it with the bottled oil! |

What's that green stuff called Simple Green, it cleaned my K&N down to off-white color, and extremely cheaper than the K&N spray wash. |
