left home this am and headed north to highway one. I am watching the odometer and when it gets to 150 I hit gas stations button on the GPS........."Diekmans general store", perfect right on the way to Jenner.....(where I was going to eat lunch in this great restaurant)......when I get to Diekmans....now 187 on the clock.........no gas pumps...never did have???? The nice clerk said to go 1/2 mile up the side road and the fire station has gas. sure enough..a couple of young fireman, just sitting around waiting for a fire to happen, are there. 1 gallon gas, no charge. Off to the next town and fill up. Get to Jenner and highway one is closed in both directions ......(oil tanker flipped).....no great lunch at the rivers end restaurant. They were routing all traffic to 101 freeway. No way do I want to ride all that way, just to ride on a freeway. The road crew guy says there is a "back" road that hooks up with 1, after the oil spill. 27 some odd miles around. What a great road!!! Rough, but paved, skinny and very twisty. A few miles from getting back on 1, I come across a diesel tractor turning around in a clearing off the road. I don't think anything of it, till I go a few more turns and there is his logging trailer, loaded with huge redwoods, sitting on the ground. The road is so narrow that there is just room to get the bike by. I guess it got twisted up and off the mount, trying to navigate the road??? Got back on 1 and headed north....pretty soon civilization ....stop and starbucks..........and then motel 6..

Rode about 1/2 the day in rain. Not hard, but petty constant. The motel is cool……….like a step back to the 40’s road motels. Tons of space. These guys were just outside my room. Two guys from Canada are staying here……..…just came down to ride the roads. One had an XB and had never seen a S2. Off to dinner….RIDE SAFE ALL YOU GUYS/GALS!!! |

On my way up! Stop in some little town for gas and a pseudo-emergency call to American Sport Bike...despite all the prep', I missed that one of my rocker box grommets was on the ragged edge of being too olde and tired, and it crapped the pead outside of Fairfield. A bit of oil down the right side of the olde girl, but she's running strong. If American Sport Bike cannot ship, it will be a tube of RTv and a quick fix tonight. GPS claims my ETA is 6 pm |

Super nice decal that Shane made for the event. Gunna look nice on my windshield. Checking Eric’s bike out. Direct short on the stator……. 5 of us went on a great, just over 200 mile run to Weed and back. Wonderful roads, no cars to speak of, lots of up and down hill twistys.. |

I made it home last night around 11:30 pm. I was able to get up and leave Weaverville around 3:30 am. Beautiful morning. I had to stop along the road, to see the stars. Everything was so clear. Milky way was very bright. Thanks for the whole experience. It was a great weekend. Good times at the end of the days, and good riding. Jack said he was feeling better, and left around mid day. His battery stopped somewhere along the way. REX |

I made it back to San Jose around 7:00. Shane sure picked a good weekend for that run - it was really starting to heat up on the way home. I'll echo what has been said - what a great weekend. Great rides in the day- great bench racing sessions in the evening. Absolutely flawless. I think Jack got the best pictures, but here was a shining moment - pulling into the HD dealership parking lot and lining up all those S2s...It was a bit strange to get such warm welcome from a HD dealer, but they used to be Buell as well, I understand - the Service manager John and I chatted a bit - he has an X-1 at home
And another nice pic - these are not in chronological order - of the rest stop to don the chilly weather gear before the ride down into Eureka.
