I am new to the Buell world after 3 years of saving. Any way I have a 2001 Buell S3 that has a broken front fairing bracket. I want to mount a 5 3/4 round light with a bracket for the speedo, tach and light-directional bar thing. I really like the street fighter look I just can't find/ don't know what parts to get. Any help would be much appreciated!!

It's not hard to do but it will take some time. You will likely want to shorten the wires for the gauges and headlights so you don't have a mass of wiring hanging around the headlight. You will either have to source some brackets to mount the light off the forks like an S1/X1/M2, or drill some holes to put a bracket on the triple tree to mount it. You will also have to make a bracket for the gauges or use a Sportster gauge bracket and drill holes accordingly to fit it where you want, either on the top triple tree or the handlebar clamp.

I would look for x1 parts. Hide the extra wiring under the tank. It may be that you'll want to put a fairing back on at some point. No sense trashing the stock wiring.

Is the x1 fork size the same as the 2001 S3?

I can't find a picture but I did that with an old S3 that I owned. I used the S1 screen and dash. The bike has long since been parted and the motor used to save an S1W from the scrap heap.

I've done this on my 1999 S3.
I used an M2 headlight assembly and X1 headlight brackets.
I used an M2 handlebar clamp to mount the aluminum dash to, which held everything except the clock.
You may need generic headlight mounts because of the smaller headlight size you mentioned.
I didn't shorten any wires in case I want to put it back to stock, I kept everything I removed.
You'll also need to mount turn signals and get different mirrors.
I've since gone to a V-Rod headlight and a custom dash panel with Crossroads bars and no flyscreen (see my profile picture).
Personally, I prefer the look of it without the fairing or flyscreen.
Anyway, welcome and good luck, PM me if you have any specific questions.

I changed to a glass housing from a Kawa atv then used 1st a halogen bulb and now a HID light kit in my S3. You can SEE at night now! All I had to do was drill some 3/4 angle iron to change the mount for the glass housing.

Yeah mate, I'm still around and the sporty is up and running too. Threw a spare X1 motor in it to get it on the road until I get around to building an 88". Here's a pic of it about 6 months ago..

Sick! I just got my S2T about 4 months ago after being bike less for 3 years. I'm doing it proper with over 4500 miles already clocked on it ; ). It runs pretty stout as is with 84 HP and 80 FT/LBS, but I'm planning to do a stage III NRHS 1250 with bigger cams this winter : D. I'd love to do an 88" or 90" but I ride 15,000 mi/yr so that will have to wait until I can do so on a "spare" bike that doesn't see many miles :P.

I've got few spare bikes and engines here : ) currently 2 S3's, the sporty with an X1 engine and a few spare engines/parts .. Which is why the Sporty sat in pieces for so long, lots of other toys..

Nice! I'm actually thinking of converting my S2 to DDFI. I have a Tstorm top end and cams already, not sure if I have a hole for a temp sensor in the heads though. We'll see I suppose. I have a polished Mik 42 on it now and I like it, but I get terrible mileage. Of course that could have something to do with the fact that I rip through the roads LOLOL. I'm moving to Colorado in less than 6 weeks though so I should get at least 5mpg better when I get there. The carb is actually jetted for 10,000 FT anyway because I had it dyno tuned at NRHS last month, knowing I'd be back there shortly.
