So I rode from Amarillo TX to my In-laws' house in Fountain CO Friday night after work, and Fountain to Longmont Saturday morning to visit my good friend Dan at NRHS. I went there to get my Mikuni HSR 42 installed and adjusted and the bike dyno tuned so I can put my old CV on my brother's FXD. The trip concludes with me riding to Hasty CO yesterday evening (where I'm at currently) and riding back home in Amarillo today. Here's my takeaways from the trip and my time at NRHS. -Dan is crazy busy, but still as awesome as ever -Dan's supercharged Corvette is insanely powerful and fun -Zac is super cool as well and talks almost as much as I do -my mildly built 48,000 mile S2 performed admirably -my rockwool muffler packing must be scared of the dyno because a lot of it blew out while running on it (which actually also gained me a couple HP) -Dan saved me a lot of heartache and push starting by noticing my starter was falling apart and repairing it for me When I got there, I unloaded my stuff and visited for a little bit, and then rode with Dan in his C6 Z06 to a burger place for lunch. That car is definitely the fastest thing I've ever ridden in. I don't remember the name of the Burger joint but it was very good and filling. Afterward we returned so we could get on the dyno. Before we could run the dyno, we had to move a pallet of 1250 cylinders upstairs because they were right in front of it. I certainly got my leg and cardio workout in while I was there :P. About an hour or so later, we finished moving the cylinders and proceeded to installing the Mikuni and dyno tuning. We didn't do a base pull with the CV, but the base pull with the re-jetted Mik was 79 HP 79 FT/LBS I believe. After a little adjusting and quite a bit of packing blowing out of my custom mufflers, we managed 84 HP and 80 FT/LBS. Considering the modest mods to my bike, this was right on par with our expectations and quite respectable IMO. My S2 motor has T-storm heads and pistons, N4 cams, Denso iridium plugs, accel 8.8 wires, SE ignition, NRHS round billet A/C, and custom built and packed twin megaphone muffler on the stock header. All in all I had a great time and I can't wait until my wife and I move to Longmont in September, so I can spend a lot more time in the shop . |

Plehlan, Nice write up, and good numbers from a mildly tuned S2. Dan helped me out with a stage 2 kit for my x1 when the front motor mount went and took the front head with it. What better time to get new cylinders Dan also helped during the install via phone, that made the install really easy. Even for a shade tree mechanic like myself. Good to hear he's doing well |

Brings back great memories to hear you riding to Longmont, Phelan. Enjoyed stunning riding around Boulder, Love Land, Fort Collins, Estes Park. The canyon and mountain roads the best I've ever ridden. What a place to miss. Must go back. Must go back. Rocket in England |

It felt good except that I think the rest of my packing blew out on the way home unfortunately, or maybe the bike was just hot since it was so hot omw home today from Hasty. I'll have to reassess the bike tomorrow when I go to work . |

Thanks Rocket, John, Matt. I had a lot of fun but also a lot of pain XD. The Colorado scenery was beautiful but their highways were terrible. Grooved roads with low joints every 20 ft or so, so I felt like a soda bottle being shaken up the whole way through Denver and south of Fountain. All in all it was ~800 mile trip. I also blew the crank seal so I used a quart of oil on the way back. Gonna collect more parts to do a few upgrades while I'm in there and have the oil drained. It was time for an oil change anyway. |

I was in a pub last year and ordered a beer and while pealing the label- a nervous habit of mine- I noticed it was brewed in Longmont. I am glad Dan took good care of you although not a bit surprised. Maybe when you get settled in assuming you make the move, I will try to find some free time and come out to see you both. It would be nice to meet you after banging ideas about. Steve |

That would be awesome Steve! I would love to meet, chat, and maybe even ride with you . My wife and I are moving there at the end of August- notices already given at our current jobs. I can't wait! |
