Cool looking motorcycle. They probably shouldn't bother, the salesmen won't know what to do with it, besides, if loud pipes save lives an electric bike might just get you killed. How does this support their core model/customer base? Sarcasm font off. But seriously, this sort of bike could die in its infancy simply due to the dealerships failing to back it in exactly the same way they failed Buell Motorcycle Company. My opinion is that while some may get on board, most just won't know what to do with it... |

The dealerships didn't fail Buell, HD failed Buell. If you knew the budgets and expectations HD expected of Buell and what they still pulled off in spite of the odds you would be amazed. |

Do you really think HD pulled off and all electric motorcycle all on their own? Riiiight. I suspect someone was on the consulting side of this. |

I'd say you have to give HD credit. For all of talk of trying squeeze life out of tractor motors and the associated running gear, to make the leap to this? I say Bravo..They obviously they see the need to appeal to the younger market...first with their new street series and now with this. I just hope they refine and move forward with it and not have it be left at concept. |

As LaFayette mentioned, I think EPA could have something to do with this. An Electric bike would bring the average MPG up quite a bit, though HD is generally pretty good about gas mileage. I don't know how, but I still think EB is linked to this bike somehow. All things said, I like it. Wouldn't buy one from HD though. |

The shape vaguely reminds me of a Ducati Diavel: http://www.bikeexif.com/ducati-diavel |

I have one question? If the engineers at Harley can come up with a design like this now, why the hell not a sportster like this that we could actually buy NOW? |

Harley-Davidson is "NOSTALGIA DRIVEN" so it is "BIG TWIN DRESSERS" mentality !!! Anyway, just say it has a 130 mile range and when it quits are you supposed to call AAA Road Service and get a SHOCK CHARGE to continue ??? |

...I don't believe there are CAFE requirements for motorcycle manufacturers like there are for automakers. Therefore, the EPA could care less about corporate averages (Corporate Average Fuel Economy - CAFE) for bike builders like HD, or EBR. Please feel free to correct me if I'm missing something... |

My confusion is they struggled with Buell but are heading that direction again. Maybe its the challenge. Every electric bike I have seen is a sport bike maybe space and weight is the reason. Right now it gets 53 miles per charge and takes 3 hrs to charge I would get one but they need to get it up to around 125-150.. |

It's a prototype, and is generating a lot of good publicity for HD. Good for them, but don't confuse this with a production E-Bike. The market is there, the motors are there, the battery capacity and economics aren't. But it is getting SO close! Even if they could just drive down the cost of the batteries... a Zero DS with three easily removable battery packs for $5000 would be a heck of a fun buy. Leave one at work on the charger, leave one at home on the charger, swap with the one in the bike when necessary. (Though I wish Zero would add a transmission and a "hooligan mode" button). Then a 50 mile range could work pretty well for a lot more things. |

I took an interest in the IOM electric race and did some research it seems the winning electric bike had motors batteries and chargers made here in the US by mission, http://ridemission.com/ http://indefinitelywild.gizmodo.com/what-harley-da vidsons-first-electric-motorcycle-means-1592983608 Re packaged some one else s tech, as did the japs ( shimaden aka HONDA ) Find Mission's electric sport bike ( on the site ) that's a beast! |

Harley has 2 new bikes out for MSF classes. Trying to get new riders interested in the brand and the old Blasts need to be replaces. Liquid cooled 500 and 750. Kinda neat looking too. |
