Did you rejet the carb for the different muffler? |

The pilot jet is just off idle, but if you have the stock CV40 52 pilot is too fat no matter what pipe. 48 is still a bit fat but closer. a pop when you back off could also be sucking air in @ the pipe where bolts to head so check for any leaks or loose stud nut or leaking gasket . i'm waiting for my d&d, it's on it's way. |

Is this the full system? Did you use the Screaming Eagle exhaust gaskets? |

The gaskets were comet I believe - what Al included. I did have a hard time with them. I was thinking of going to the local HD and try again. |

I think the cometic gaskets are same as the screaming eagle as i have used both at different times. best thing for you to do is remove & check they are right. it can happen with any pipe , leaking or blown exh gasket low restriction muff or open pipes back off pop or shoot flames. if the throw unburnt fuel into pipe shoot flames. more efficient motors not as bad. |

I'm taking it this is the full system. Really have to take your time. Be sure the little nubs on both pipes stop at the rim of the two tube inlet of the crossover. If you don't understand what I am saying, let me know I'll try to post a pic. When I got my M2 seven years ago, whomever installed the system had no clue what they were doing. They used the oem header gaskets, and those nubs I'm talking about were shoved into the crossover, caused the header pipes to be misaligned at the head and the thing popped on every deceleration, also busted an exhaust stud. |

So put in screaming eagle gaskets no more popping They were easier to get in though I understand they will not last as long as the stock. |

Properly torqued, they will last. Had mine in for 7 years, 25,000 miles and no problems. |
