Hey guys, what is the paint code for the blue Buell used on the '98 Cyclone? I'm needing to do some touch ups on some chips and scratches.

Also, remind me where I need to go to get a rattle can custom mixed in that color (It's been a while since I've done this, lol).

Thanks a bunch.

Some paint codes are listed here in the knowledge vault. I'm not sure what they call the blue from the '98 Cyclone.

Good luck. The PPG paints were reformulated in 2000 (I think), none of the old codes cross to the new codes.
Either find something close or get to know a really good painter that can hand match it.

So these codes are incorrect? Mine is a '98 Cyclone in "Blue Streak" (PPG code DBC-190388) according to this chart. It's the same PPG code in 1998 as it is in 2001...

unfortunately the code may be the same but the formula to make the color has kept changing due to the use of more earth and worker friendly ingredients. we have a difficult time matching paint we did 5 years ago let alone 16 years ago. new top coat to make it all the same.
best luck.

What Tim said. I even talked to the folks at PPG, they found a guy that remembered the whole thing. He tried to see if there was any crossover available. There was none.
It was basically a cut and run for them. They PPG guy really tried, he liked Buells and wanted to help.

No this again!

The codes are not that simple, there are complex instructions with how the paint and under coat is applied

Well crap. I took the PPG code to my auto-supply store and they said no-go. So I brought in a piece of bodywork that they scanned and pronounced that a BMW red was closest they had. So I'm just in the final go at clearcoating a BMW version of red snap. And now I find another code for the RIGHT one!

OTOH, maybe I'll try to do a black sapphire with my spare body work now that I'm getting the hang of painting.
