Hi Buellers I just put my 99 m2 back together after the engine was rebuilt. The engineer who built it told me to leave the plug leads off and just turn it over until the oil pressure light went out. I did this and it turned over beautifully for about 45 seconds then the starter made that ticking sound like I had a flat battery. I had just charged the battery and it was fine. When I tried again I just got one click and now I only get one click from the relay and nothing. Please can anyone help (I have a multi meter but very little expertise with ELECTRICS). |

Your battery has reached it's end of service life. It happens. You may have the volts, but you just don't have the amps. |

You might be able to bring the battery back to the land of the living with a smart battery conditioner. It may take a few weeks of cycles though (which you can do overnight with the battery in the bike using a quick disconnect). A new battery is a safer path though. |

Load test the battery, if it is fine double check all your wiring including the ground on the swing arm mount |

"The engineer who built it told me to leave the plug leads off and just turn it over until the oil pressure light went out. I did this and it turned over beautifully for about 45 seconds then the starter made that ticking sound like I had a flat battery" Am I reading this right? You cranked the engine for 45 seconds? I'm pretty sure this will drain even a brand new freshly charged battery. And it can't be good for the starter. |

The engineer who built it told me to leave the plug leads off and just turn it over until the oil pressure light went out you are cranking the engine over against the compression to pump oil thru the engine .. I hope that the starter is ok..... rolling the engine over 1st by hand then with the starter motor PLUGS OUT is a good way to double check for things hitting and then circulating oil DAMHIK .. } (Message edited by oldog on April 23, 2014) |

Sorry I didn't have the spark plugs in so the motor was spinning freely. |

45 seconds can still tax a battery...and a starter. My money's on starter solenoid. |

does the engine rotate freely by rolling the rear wheel in gear? |
