I just broke a fairly new dealer clutch cable. It broke I think because I made it bend too much - it broke about 2 inches from the lever right where it bends down with the handle bars. I ordered the stainless one from American Sport Bike. Any tricks to installing the cable so that it will not break ? |

Are you using the metal cable guide that sticks out from the clutch perch? (I'm not...) There is a cable routing diagram in the workshop manual, is yours like it? Mine felt like it needed replacing until I put 30 weight in it, and let it hang for a day or two. Now feels new. |

I got the steel braided cable from American Sport Bike and it is a lot smoother, is has a coating on it compared to the stock braided cable. put some syntec gear oil and it works well. |

Be very careful mixing coated cables and lubricants. Some don't play well with each other, and you'll end up dissolving the coating. |
