So I picked up my first M2 recently as a fix'er upper. The bike ran pretty well, except under high acceleration I could hear what sounded like an intake leak. Could not figure out where it was coming from for the life of me. After a week of driving the bike i finally figured out where the leak was - the front head gasket (could feel air being forced through the head/cylinder sealing surface while accelerating. I was fine the rest of the remaining 45 minutes of the way to work. On the way home however I noticed the tach starting to jump around. About a half hour later the bike started to bog down, even at low speaks. Had to gimp the rest of the way home. My question is, is it likely that this bad front head gasket is causing this issue? Is that a common symptom of a leaking head gasket? I can't image that this would impact the tach. Is that occurring at the same time just a coincidence? I plan to replace the head/rocker gaskets this weekend. Just curious if I should be chasing a second problem as well. |

I'd address the head gasket. You cannot diagnose any other condition until you have good compression on both cylinders.. |
