I'm at my wits end!!! This has been going on for over 2 yrs!! I have oil coming out of the vent tube underneath my seat. Have a 2001 M2. This what I've and several trusted mechanics have tried. Put less primary fluid 24-25 oz vice 32 oz. When back to HD primary oil vice synthetic. Also put a filter (looks like a small K&N)and re-routed the hose to behind the oil tank, out of any wind to eliminate any possible vacumn (sucking out the oil). With the oil all over my swingarm, rear brake and tire, haven't wrecked. Hope someone can help. Also I don't abuse the bike either! |

"FIRST" of all for "SAFETY" the transmission breather hose should be run to a catch contained !!! With your motorcycle on level ground setting straight up with the CLUTCH INSPECTION COVER off the transmission oil should not be higher than the lower edge of the DIAPHRAGM SPRING ... If you have correctly fill your transmission oil level to this it should not be coming out your breather hose ... If it is getting extra oil from the engine oil system you have a bad MOTOR SPROCKET OIL SEAL PN 35151-74A which was $7.40 in 2004 when "i" replaced mine ... If you are adjusting the PRIMARY CHAIN "TOO TIGHT" meaning tighter than 3/4 inch play on the chain tight spot it will cause this OIL SEAL to go bad prematurely ... |

Thanks for the quick response. What type of catch container are your talking about? Last year I tried using a 6 oz coke (plastic) bottle, drilled a hole the cap just big enough to put the hose in. I also put a pen point hole on the top (end) of the bottle so no vacumn would occur. Also my first 8 years with the bike no oil issues. Now if a do a ride around town (stop/go) no problem. If I go out in the country roads, leaks within 15 miles.I will get with my mechanic and give them ur suggestions. Thanks again, I'm a die hard Bueller! Both my sons and my son's friends have Buells (all XB's). I'll let you know. |

It's the seal between the primary and crank case that is bad. Happened to me as well and the dealer couldn't figure it out... The pressure in the crank case is blowing through the seal and filling it will engine oil then it will puke out the vent line. |

Very good possibility that this ^^^ is the case. The primary transmission case doesn't hold very much lube and a surprisingly small amount of engine oil at operating temps will puke lube out the vent. |

I would bet my bottom dollar on it. I went through 7 visits to the dealer until I chewed out the service manager and walked into the service area and made a huge scene telling their so called mechanics how to fix it. |

All the "TUBE FRAME" BUELLs are is a SCREAMING EAGLE SPORTSTER Engine is a better handling "FRAME" !!! "THAT JUST MEANS THEY CAN NOT FIX ANY SPORTSTER ENGINE !!!" HARLEY-DAVIDSON technicians making mechanics out of BUELL Riders since 1986 !!! |
