So the bike is still away for the winter and I have changed alot on it but one area I always wanted to tackle was the rear end. I liked the aluminum sub-frame but always thought it was too long. I raised it a little while ago and it made a HUGE difference but now I want to chop it. I took inspiration from NwRider over at the buellxb forum. I really liked his setup but i think it would look a little better if the seat was a bit shorter. So here is the plan. I have another stock seat on the way for me to start hacking up. My plan with the seat is to rip off the crappy cover, remove the foam, and section the pan to the size I want. I plan to take about 3-4 inches off the back end of the seat. I would still like to retain most of the passenger seat. I imagine it will look close to a buell XB seat. After I have the length of the seat where I want it then I will make the steel hoop to support the seat. It should look more or less like NwRider's except a little bit shorter. Then all I have to do is re cover the seat and mount a new low profile tail light. Here is a poorly done photo shop of kinda what I am going for. This is NwRider's photo just chopped a little.  I would like to hear any input you guys have as well. | ||

Do it. I like the homemade subframes I have seen pics of. How did you raise your stock one? The high tail kit is very expensive. | ||

to raise the stock tail i just drilled new mounting holes on the bottom mounts. the new holes are only about 3/4" away from the stock ones but that translates to about 3 - 4 inches raise out at the tip of the tail. All you do is un bolt the bottom mounting bolts, raise the tail to where you want it, and re drill your new holes. here is a crappy pic to get get more of an idea.  And the tail is under way. i have another seat in the mail. i will be out of the country for a week or so, so there wont be any progress for a bit. I will post pics when i do tho. | ||
