Can an XB oil pump be used in a tuber?

Yes... you just need to swap the oil line fittings from the tuber pump to the XB pump.
i did the same thing on my 1999 x1 when the pump fragged... you may also want to change out the drive gear to the brass one.

Oil lines are no biggie. I picked up an XB oil cooler as well so I'm gonna do it all in one fell swoop. I'll inspect the drive gear but hopefully I don't need to replace it. I don't have the tools for that.

I picked up the XB pump, lines, oil cooler, and scoop for $100 shipped, so I'm pretty stoked that it'll fit : ).

whats the part number on the xb pump you got?

if its 26487-98 is the same as the tuber pump.... if its
--------------------------------------------
The last up-grade on the XB oil pump was to -02B, the "B" meaning the last up-grade ...

If it does not have the "-B"(PN 26357-02B) the internals are the same as the -98(BUELL) or -91A(SPORTSTER) with XB oil line fittings .

replace the gear!! what tools are you missing? do you have the tools to get the primary assembly off? I think its a 28 and a 30 or 32 mm socket, a torque wrench big enough to hit the right specs, a primary locking bar, and a pinion shaft locking plate.

you can get the two locking tools from Al at American Sport Bike, they should be standards in your tool box......

what tools are you missing?

I have been putting off changing my oil pump drive gear for a couple years but finally got around to in last week. Sucks cause i spent $91 on the new gear, and $50 on the pinion locking tool but my original gear looked like brand new when removed. But better safe then sorry and fairly cheap insurance.
